I thought you didn't see Tech ranked. Personally, I would have Tech above ULM, because I don't think ULM deserves to be ranked at this point.

But, I do not think Tech is invincible. They played aTm really tough, but other than that the schedule has been very soft. We will find out more versus San Jose and Utah State.

I think there is definitely an argument that ULM could beat Tech. I think if the game was played at ULM it would be a close game. I think if the game is in Ruston, Tech may win going away. Remember, ULM contained Baylor who has a really explosive offense:

While I disagree with Jay's rankings, I don't think it's an asinine opinion to think ULM is better than Tech.

Slappy.......you make some very good points. Well thought out. And we all know that on any given day........

I'm just saying if I were doing a top 25 or whatever, it would seem to be rediculous to put ULM ahead of Tech AT THIS POINT......down the road, we'll see. If I were being honest, I would come to the same conclusion as most of the voters......for that matter, BOP putting them ahead of Tech.............well, ULM isn't even ranked. I only meant to ask Jay a question, not for this thread to turn into a ULM vs. Tech discussion on the UL board. Sorry guys.....that's the problem putting thoughts in text. Sometimes they are misunderstood. And I don't believe Jay has an asinine opinion. I wouldn't call it that, he's a good writer. He's just wrong.......in this case......for now... : )

Oh, and I don't think Tech is invincible.......never said that. You're right....the games with Utah State and San Jose State may be very competitive.

ULM is not ahead of Tech and it is UL's job to prove it Saturday.

ULM is every bit as good or better than Tech this year. Tech has just had the more favorable schedule. Their easy schedule has allowed them to become a ranked team, but it also has eliminated any possibility of them becoming a BCS buster. Even if they had beaten A&M, it is doubtful that they'd have made the cut simply because of their strength of schedule. Though games against top 10 teams like Florida give you an opportunity for a signature win for your program, they also give you an opportunity to get totally embarrassed. I yearn for the day when we can afford to schedule only middle of the pac AQ conference teams instead of the powerhouses. It's one step at a time though, and we're not there yet.

Well, the only way opinions are wrong is when they become facts.

My opinion, based on what I've seen of both teams...and I HAVE seen both teams, is as good as your guy is at QB, Browning just has "it."

Now, if the two of you play and Tech wins, them I'm wrong. But until that happens, all it is is an opinion.

I understand the rest of the polls disagree with me. And I guarantee you, 80 percent or more in both polls have not seen either team play.

Jay probably has the closest view of both programs of anyone voting. I think there's a hair's worth of difference in the two programs this year... a difference only a direct contest could resolve. Calling Jay out on his vote is more indicative of your bias than his. Don't you think? Jay doesn't have a fondness for ULM. He's also not a participant in the Tech bashing on here. This year, it seems he's extremely impressed with Browning. I like the way this young man plays as well. I hope he has his worst day against us.

It's good of you to wish us well against ULM. I believe 99.99% of it is a Tech thing. I used to live in West Monroe many moons ago and still have some great personal Tech friends. There is more animosity between Tech and ULM than there could ever be created between UL and either of those programs. I seriously think Tech needs to do like every other school in the country and stop ignoring another FBS program only 30 minutes down the road. No game would fill up Joe Aillet or Malone stadiums with a record crowd greater than the show down between you two. It's time...

Any school that refuses to play a d1 program 30 minutes away is run by poussays.

ULM is not a top 25 team. They lost to an average Baylor team at home, and a pitiful 1 win Auburn team on the road.

    Jay,

I just saw your ballot for this week's Harris Poll in which Louisiana Tech is ranked #24. I wanted to say I appreciate the fact you ranked Tech is the Top 25 this week.

I do disagree with your claim that ULM would beat Louisiana Tech this year. Despite the yardage and points Tech's defense has given up this year, they are one of the top teams in the nation in turnover margin and doing a better job in shutting down their opponents' offenses.

While Louisiana Tech defeated New Mexico State last Saturday, it was the worst overall performance of the year so far. There were a few standouts such as Ryan Allen, Ray Holley, Myles White, and the defense (for the first 50 minutes of the game), but the team had a flat performance overall.

Even though I disagree with you placing ULM one spot above Louisiana Tech this week, I do appreciate your vote for Tech in the Harris Poll. Thanks.
