Migratory game bird violations net 5

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Two 23-year-old Vermilion Parish men have pleaded guilty in federal court for various migratory game bird violations.

The state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said Wednesday that Ryan Frederick, of Kaplan, and Dustin Fontenot, of Abbeville, entered the pleas Oct. 17 to taking over the daily bag limit of white-fronted geese, hunting geese with an electronic calling device and failing to maintain custody of their birds in the field.

Authorities say the alleged crimes occurred during a hunt north of Kaplan on Jan. 12.
