Yes I did ( if you are talking about the "Prime Design" issue with the black cover) and if I hadn't been so focused on the information I would have to say it was unreadable as a casual read.

The funniest thing about that issue is they had about 35 or so familiar national brand names on the cover and not once did they use any of those companies full legal name.

That alone should be a proper use clue.

For some reason though Kathleen Thames thinks the most important part of the schools name is where it is @

Is the administration really that "scared" of the name police???? I'm thinking it has simply come down to the fact that they're afraid to push the name agenda. Either that, or it's been decided that they prefer the @ designation. I wish someone in the admin would come forward and own up to it. Of course, that'll probably happen the day after they begin construction on the new baseball stadium. Sarcasm off.

The tide could be turning in our favor. . . stay tuned."

Now, after last night with ESPN on our turf and our commissioner attending, all we get is Louisiana Lafayette, Lafayette, UL Lafayette, U La La, and even called UL Monroe. When does all of this crap end? When does this university take a stand and when is Dr. Savoie going to put out his branding initiative that he promised over a year ago?

I posted this just prior to the Ark State game and realized, as BOP pointed out, that Brian didn't have time to respond at that time. After the debacle on TV, I wonder if now would be a better time for Brian to provide an update to what he was referring to. Also, I wonder if Brian is in a position to comment on what was asked of ESPN regarding our name and what their response was since they failed to call us Louisiana and called us everything we ask not to be called.

Brian is in Cleveland dealing with a family situation. Keep your pants on Houston. When it's time to say something it'll be said

But, we chose the hard route with a name that after 12 years is still in turmoil. Students pick up any publication within the university and they are Lafayetted to death. How confused are students when they get exactly what the networks are doing from within the university itself? The same for alumni. Did you just read the latest publication of LaLouisiane? UL Lafayette is used hundreds of times throughout. How does anyone know what to use or not use? You can't even buy merchandise without Lafayette on it. This whole thing is a joke and the administration is to blame. Just the tiniest bit of vision would have set this university on a better identity path.
If i remember correctly, the university couldn't go it alone to become the University of Louisiana. Don't remember the particulars, but i don't think the BR legislature would let them get away with it. I believe 3 universities were required for a name change, with Lafayette/Monroe becoming the location name. I think Southeastern was in the mix but pulled out at the last minute. If USL wanted to become the university of Louisiana, it HAD to a have a location name attached to it.

You are mixing up what he's saying. He thinks we could have gotten "Louisiana University" back when we got screwed on having been granted then overturned on "University of Louisiana". We instead went on with the UL system deal that has all of the name game BS with it. I doubt he's correct. We would have had a bunch of short cocks fighting us over "Louisiana University" as well.

Louisiana University would have never passed either. Remember, A. has been fighting the name change for years. It was going to be the way the legislature wanted it or it wasn't going to happen at all

I believe that it would have passed. The name "Louisiana University" does not smack of flagship status as does "The University of Louisiana".....especially when you consider that the name of our entire system was changed to "The University of Louisiana System".......The Ohio State University versus Ohio University.....does anyone really think that Ohio State would have allowed "The University of Ohio" ? Well, we have what we have now. Houston is right...Drop UL and go with "L"....brand ourselves "Louisiana" athletically.

We really have reached the point that if the school is not going to push Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, we need to push the letters(U-L-L) just like ULM.
With the success ULM has had this season, lots of people are hearing "ULM" lately. Name recognition is very important. Names have been successfully changed at other universities. USM was once Mississippi Southern University, or MSU. The fact that Mississippi State was also MSU created a problem that nobody liked. Mississippi Southern changed to University of Southern Mississippi and now they are known nationally as USM. Everybody is happy. Louisiana Tech became "La Tech" to the rest of the country whether the people in Ruston liked it or not. Now the people at Tech have embraced it and have even trade-marked it. Until we have a name that EVERYBODY uses when referring to us, we won't build any name recognition. The issue of our name isn't getting old, it has BEEN old.

This was the play to make after we got screwed in '84.
