I got cha. It's just my opinion that national tv is not the same as cable tv. It just may be semantics.
Bottom line, everyone with ESPN 2, from here to Istanbul watched UL ____ the bed last night. I fell asleep thinking they had it in the bag, boy was i wrong. Total shock waking up in the morning expecting a 40+ point win and seeing they lost.
A few other observations from the game:
The UNT students showed up big. They were loud and into the game. I bet it showed up great on tv. I hope our students show up like that next week.
We had a decent showing of UL fans, maybe 200-300 outside of the band. But for the most part, they were pretty tame. Lots of sitting at big moments in the game.
The UNT cannon is pretty sweet. Loud as all get up, especially since the UL section was right next to it. But a couple of times, they let the cannon go after their kicker kicked off, during the actual play of the return. Seems like making a sound like that during gameplay would be illegal.
All in all, a good time. Nice stadium. Just wish we could have taken away a win.
Hud and the entire team let go of the rope and set the mfer on fire last night! That was a pathetic 2nd half, felt like I was watching a Rickey Bustle coached game.
GEAUX UL!
Broadway was throwing deep on every third down instead of just going for the first down to keep the chains moving. So, we throw on first down, second down and it's third and five. What do we do? The only logical thing of course, throw for 40 yards and rack up another incompletion.
I'm not throwing in the towel but it's frustrating to lose to an opponent who I feel we should have beat and then do so on national television like it seems we always do. We lost but I feel it was because we were outcoached in the second half. Why not run the ball when you did so very effectively in the first half? They were dropping everyone back for the pass and we continued to keep throwing. I know Hudspeth has done a great job here so far but this was very disappointing. I think he needs to focus more attention on winning on the road than attendance going forward.
It was nationally televised for those that have cable. A game on ABC/NBC/CBS isn't nationally televised either if you don't have a tv? Can't see it then now can you.
