Being a prop is not red shirting nor bares any resemblance to doing so. First and foremost he is an out of state student and would need to pay out of state tuition, get a wavier from UL academic requirements, not get special tutors, not get to practice, not get training or other meals.

Having said that, if he shows and works hard on his own I would welcome him with open arms.

If he has his core courses and is close to qualifying on the ACT he can not enroll in college, but spend the period from May to December next year studying for and retaking the ACT, and if he gets eligible he can enroll in January on Scholarship and be counted towards NEXT year's class; then redshirt if he needs to.
