Is the talent from Florida really a bottomless pit, or is there a herd mentality stampede going on with recruiting there.
Prior to the Stokely era we recruited FL and GA pretty hard, if my memory serves me correctly. Then, for whatever reason, we concentrated mostly on TX ( Houston area). Under Bustle we began actively recruiting FL athletes again.Originally Posted by Turbine
No doubt about it, that state has a lot of good football talent. I think it is wise for us to keep our foot in the door, so to speak.![]()

All I know is you couldn't swing a dead cat during a televised college football game this season without hitting some announcer bringing up the idea that Florida is a "hotbed" of recruiting. I was starting to wonder if they were being paid to promote the hypothesis.

Wow! This kid was offered by Auburn, Boston College and Memphis (according to the scouts.com link). He's huge!Originally Posted by cajun4ever
Unfotunantly, I've heard rumblings that this kid is gonna prop his first year, of course I've always been a fan of the redshirt year anyway, it certainly did wonders for M. Desormeaux, I can remember him coming in a skinny lanky looking guy from New Iberia, but then after his redshirt year, he came back looking like a D-1A athlete. Mike must've gained at least 15-20 pounds since his freshman year, so prop or not I think its a great pick up.Originally Posted by Kernel

All OL should redshirt if at all possible. It's a difficult position for a true Freshman to play.Originally Posted by CajunFan64
I agree to a certain extent with what you are saying but sometimes these kids are just a "Freak Of Nature". Example Brandon Cox
Being a prop is not red shirting nor bares any resemblance to doing so. First and foremost he is an out of state student and would need to pay out of state tuition, get a wavier from UL academic requirements, not get special tutors, not get to practice, not get training or other meals.Originally Posted by CajunFan64
Having said that, if he shows and works hard on his own I would welcome him with open arms.![]()
