I agree Douglas.
This isn't an extension, it is an answer to the question; if we HAD to make a coaching hire right now, who would we hire?
The answer is Bob Marlin.

Had an 11 game win streak and attendance figures we hadn't seen in 10 years, led us to first post season since 2005.
We are on our way guys, he will get his players in here. I like the direction we are headed.
I'm still ok with Coach Marlin as our coach. He hasn't struck gold, but he has done some good things, and the program seems to be headed in the right direction. I still think he can and will get the UL Basketball program to be a top-64 program, and take it to the top of the conference, wait that's not saying much right now with our conference, but you know what I mean.
UL has finalized a new five-year contract with basketball coach Bob Marlin that includes both a $125,000 annual pay raise to $400,000 per year and increased buyout terms for both sides.
The deal, which received final approval this week from the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, is effective as of last April 1 and is designed to keep Marlin at UL through at least the end of the 2016-17 season.
I have mixed feelings on this one. I truly think Marlin can build a program we will be proud of and will put us back on the map. I also believe that there are some serious issues within that department and have shown themselves over the past 2 years. I don't know if I'm in favor of that type of commitment and pay raise for going 30-31 in his time here.
......always been our premier program at UL.....
No. It has been the best program in some years, but it has not been our premier program since before the death penalty, if it was then.
Most successful popular program, sure.
It is inarguable that our Track and Field program has been our premier program historically. More top 20 NCAA finishes than all other sports combined. More All Americans than all other sports combined.
Softball is second, then probably baseball or basketball.
