I'm surprised by the firings but if Bustle thinks its the right move for the team than so be it. I questioned some of the playcalling this year, as did everyone else but I honestly didn't expect to see a house cleaning. Can't wait to see who is named as the new coaches.

Well, now is as good a time as any to overhaul the offense, particularly if Hunley takes the helm.

I'd imagine we'll see a alot of I-formation, letting the opponents D stack the box to try to stop Fenroy, opening up the passing game.

I didn't have any strong feelings either way as to what should happen with the assistants. After hearing this, though, i do feel great that they are gone, for one simple reason. Bustle letting HIS guys go means that he is all-in with this program. He is in this thing for keeps and not just as a jumping board to something else. It means he is not giving up on us. It means that he wants to win as much as we do. This move does not seem like it was done as a gesture. I don't see him as making this something to "save" his job.

Thanks to the fallen coaches, for the work you have done to get this program to where it is today and good luck in your future ventures.

Excuse me, I'm sorry Bird of Paradise. I meant ZERO CHANCE, just like your ZERO ABILITY to predict outcomes.

Does anyone have a good guess at who will we be looking at to fill the defence and offence jobs?

I have to say I am a little surprised at the extent of the cleaning house by Bustle. But, I am impressed that he did it. I have seen far too many coaches hang onto their assistants in the midst of less than satisfactory performance. Whether or not you believe the results can be improved by simply changing out assistants, it is the first major step a head coach must do.

I concur with the person who said that this action is a sign that Bustle wants to succeed, rather than enjoy the company of people who he may like, personally. The message has also been sent the players... our head coach says that you either perform, or someone else will. I am not saying that this message (to the players) needed to be sent. But, in good programs, the coach needs to be viewed as a person who will replace you if you do not show a total commitment to success. Along those lines, this is a message to new recruits that this coach will play those who get the job done.

I like the move. But... I am curious to see who replaces these assistants... and wonder if Bustle had that planned out before he cleaned house.

Not a bad idea Rhineaux. Just not sure if Scelfo would go for it. But I like how you're thinking.

    Bustle shakes up Cajun staff
    UL Sports Information

University of Louisiana football coach Rickey Bustle has made changes to his staff after an evaluation of where the football program is after five seasons.
Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach Rob Christophel, Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach Brent Pry, Wide Receiver Coach Brian Crist and Cornerbacks Coach Terry Sims will not return for the 2007 season.

“The business side of athletics is tough,” said Bustle. “It’s especially difficult when it comes to decisions about making a difference in a football program, in particular the coaches who have worked extremely hard to build a program and have been loyal and excellent role models to the community, their players and the University.”

Christophel, Pry and Crist were all members of Bustle’s original staff hired in December 2001. Sims replaced Clay Jennings prior to the 2005 season after Jennings left to take a position at the University of Houston.
Both Christophel and Pry were Bustle’s original coordinators, holding the position at the time of their hiring. Pry was promoted to Assistant Head Coach in 2004.

Some heads had to roll. Glad to see he is making the hard moves. I'm sure all of them are great guys and will find a coaching job else where.

I would be very excited to hear Scelfo as our OC...will it happen I don't know. Would he want the job, I don't know. But I have heard he refered to UL as a sleeping giant at one time.
