Thread: Ragin' Cajuns Basketball adds 6-7 Texas product

As well-traveled as Kimani Jackson has been lately, one more change of scenery -- the one he plans next year, when moving from Texas to play basketball at UL -- is no big deal.

Here's hoping he's much more well-traveled at UL... unless it means to multiple post-season tournament appearances. Then he can travel all he wants late into March.

Good looking prospect. By population ratio he would be about the 13th to 15th best prospect in Louisiana, but of course in Louisiana he would actually be the 24th to 30th best prospect. lol

I smell a plug for a membership on the Red Zone Scout site coming.

We have 11 scholarship players for the upcoming season. Only one is a senior. That means we could sign three for the following season as your limit is 13. With Register and Jackson set to come on board, that leaves only one scholarship open. Assuming nothing changes, they may wait till the spring to fill the last slot. That way if someone they like develops, they can bring them on board. Also, we have a new chief recruiter on the staff. It may take him awhile to learn the Cajun program to allow him to go sell it. Of course there is always a possibility that one of the 10 non senior scholarship players will want to leave as they may not be happy here or will want more playing time. Personally, I don't believe that will be nearly as much an issue going forward as it was this past year.

It's my understanding that he passed all his summer school classes and is eligible.

Shawn Long is academically eligible as he did well in summer school. However, being able to play from Day 1 is a different question than the academic eligibility issue. He transferred at semester break last year so typically he would have to wait until the 1st semester ends (early December) to be able to play. However, the plan was for him to file an appeal based upon family issues and the fact that he never played a game for Mississippi State. I do not not if that appeal has been granted.
