The latest is Frank Scelfo as OC...and Fouquier as DC...
should be announed officially after the 1st of the year...only one who could fall out is Fouquier, who is being offered more money by FIU,...but he's still coming to UL from what I'm told. Things change...but I hear he's pretty solid to come home.

When I told the brother of a former player the possibility of Scelfo getting the oc job he just said good luck. Don't think the Greenies really loved the guy!!!

UL football coach Rickey Bustle said Wednesday that nothing is official, but indications are that two familiar faces - and Acadiana natives - will fill the vacant coordinator spots on the Ragin' Cajun staff. Frank Scelfo, a native of New Iberia and for the past 11 years a member of Tulane's staff, had meetings Wednesday with Bustle and other members of the UL offensive staff. A member of the Tulane athletic staff, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Scelfo was expected to fill UL's offensive coordinator position. Meanwhile, only one coach has interviewed for the defensive coordinator role. Kevin Fouquier, a native of Franklin and a student assistant coach at UL from 1985-89, interviewed with Bustle last week. Fouquier was Florida International's defensive coordinator and defensive line coach last fall after a five-year stint at Middle Tennessee. Fouquier was one of the coaches retained by new FIU head coach Mario Cristobal, but an FIU staffer said Wednesday that it was "common knowledge" that Fouquier was leaving. I am interested to see if he really has other guys in mind, or if this is just a way to keep people off his back until he is able to make an announcement. Some folks on here said this was a sure deal last week, but is it more of a likely deal. Besides, who else do you think he could be interviewing/looking at/thinking of?

Does anyone understand or indeed know for certain what type of defensive scheme Fouquier has implemented with success in the past? How will our current players fit in with his anticipated defensive scheme?

I think you are right, but it may be part of the process of getting the I(s) dotted and T(s) crossed. If someone in the mix is holding out on their decision, you keep your options open. It is likely Bustle is using this meeting to complete his look into the other positions.

Getting the business of dismissals behind you, the process of building a new coaching group has to be exciting. Bustle has learned a lot about head coaching over the past years at UL, and he has a much better understanding of what to look for in a staff. It is a tough juncture in the program, but it is timely (a dip, but not a dive) and I am very excited about this reported new coaching staff.
