MOSS POINT - Josh Williams is the latest cornerback prospect at Moss Point.
Williams has a scholarship offer from Louisiana-Lafayette. He is The Sun Herald's third-ranked football recruit on the Coast.
The senior recorded almost 60 total tackles as the Tigers (7-6) reached the Class 5A state quarterfinals.
"Josh is a solid player, he has good cover skills and runs relatively well," said Lanny Mixon of Eagletalk.net, Southern Miss' recruiting Web site for Rivals.com "He's athletic, but must learn to use his body placement to help defend."
Rising up the charts
Williams was an unknown prospect until his strong performance at the Southern Mississippi football camp last summer.
He was impressive, posting a 40 time of 4.3 and excelling during the passing drills. ULL quickly offered him a scholarship.
"It showed that my hard work has paid off and someone noticed it," Williams said.
