It was simple many years ago when conference members were somewhat fixed. Right now, you can't point to the bowl tie-ins created many years ago, under completely different memberships, and make that argument regarding CUSA. I will agree that with the bowl tie-ins as they stand, the "perception" is as you state. The reality of it is that CUSA is a much weaker conference than it used to be. That doesn't have me chest pounding about the SBC. But, if a current CUSA member has delusions about being in some significantly better conference, they are delusional. That conference got gutted. It is reassembling. We will have to see... if... without the aid of a few significant participants... the current conference members can sustain something close to what CUSA had prior. I seriously doubt they can.

Next go-round for auto bowl tie-ins the contracts will look very different.

Unfortunately I don't see the Sun Belt pulling in any of the old WAC bowls.

Just because CUSA may have one are 2 more bowl tie ins does not make their teams better.
----This kinda reminds me of static versus dynamic scoring of the economy------One takes a totally present/past time look and continues with that fixation-----the other looks to the future and the results of changes that have been implemented!!! CUSA was better than the Belt although it was pretty close---the new CUSA and SBCs are much closer and it appears that the Belt could actually be better!!!

Conference rankings go up & down every year. Tech is in WAC this year & will be USA next season. Personally I don't care about who's up or down, I'm just glad that we'll be able to play regional teams like SoMiss & Tulane again. Currently are closest opponent is NMST!!!! So driving to away games in Dallas, Houston, or especially New Orleans will be fantastic. And USA's bowl tie-ins aren't bad either.

True, and I can't blame Tech for liking the regional play for a change. The current bowl tie-ins are good. I've wondered whether the bowl/conference agreements will be changing, however, with the changes in conference members. It stands to reason that simply due to the nature of agreements, some would just remain as-is for the foreseeable future. In some cases, however, I would think the decision of having that agreement at the time was predicated on the member makeup of that conference. I especially think that if you are taking the 4th or 5th eligible team from CUSA, you might want to run some statistical calcs on likely bowl participants and see if this is as pleasing as it once was.
