It's a football field, not a dance recital. I think the refs were looking for any reason to toss someone. Their poor Troy team was getting pushed around like a bunch of panty waists. They never got the chance to blow theirs whistles inadvertently so they had to find something else to do for their Troy Trojans.
sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.
C'MON, MAN!!!!
This is a super rare case but it goes to why I don't think coaches should cuss. It sends two messages
(1) I have trouble communicating.
(2) You can too.
If there is one thing players need to be able to do on the field to an excelling degree, it's communicate.
Having said that, I don't think I will ever see this happen again to a Hud coached team.
I like Robe's approach. He adamantly disagrees with this conference rule, so he just flat-out ignored until the conference started sending dirty letters.
However, It's more important that we have Hamilton against FIU.
Instead of looking closely at the situation and taking the appeal seriously, Carl Benson has taken the Wright Waters approach and rubber stamped the referees decision. You can tell from the film that UL beleived the ejection was unwarranted, therefore, a thorough review of the appeal should have been conducted. I am disappointed that there is no explanation given by the SBC office. As I said previously, the SBC uses officials that are affiliated with several other conferences. The official that made the ejection may not have known it carried at least a one game suspension. It was obvioulsy a heated moment and these officials acted poorly. As a result Justin Hamilton loses a game from his career and we are down a big man for OSU.
I think UL deserved a more rigorous investigation from teh SBC office and an explanation as to why Hamilton was suspended. The reason cannot be "just because a SBC referee said so."
The more I think about it, the more it ____es me off. The conference is handcuffing their own. We have a chance to go out and beat a team that was national championship contender last year. Just points away from being in the title game. The conference could make BOLD national headlines two weeks in a row, but they are making it more difficult for that to happen.
The 'conference' imposed penalty, would certainly make more sense if it were applied to conference games only.
That is a good point Jumbo. However, I wouldn't push that too much. I know it is a big loss but I would rather him be gone this week than the 29th.
