They will be ready. Very ready.

    So will Louisiana.

  3. Default UL's Hamilton Suspended for Oklahoma State

The Sun Belt Conference announced today that Louisiana's Justin Hamilton has been suspended for the Ragin' Cajuns football game on Saturday, September 15 against Oklahoma State.

Hamilton was ejected from the Ragin' Cajuns game against Troy on Saturday, September 8 for inappropriate personal conduct. Sun Belt Conference bylaws state that "any coach or student-athlete ejected from a contest shall be suspended for a minimum of one contest" and that "the suspension shall be served during the institution's next contest."

That is a big loss, he's had a great start to the season. I don't know exactly what happened, but judging by Hud's reaction, it wasn't warranted.

Time for the President's to take another look at this rule. They should actually review the incident before a player is suspended.

How do you get suspended for verbally coming to the defense of your teammate? What exactly does one have to say?

That's a fact. I've seen things come to blows and no one gets ejected. We better see a whole lot more ejections, by this SBC officiating group, before this season's out, if they've lowered the bar on what someone says to get ejected. Or else they're a big bunch of hypocrites.

What if Hamilton looked directly at the ref and said "F--- You." My only point is if saying something is ejectionable. Then, no amount of video review will matter since you likely cannot hear the on field communication.

I'm not looking for video or audio evidence. Is this something that everyone knows about? Do all referees (not just the easily offended) have the same guidelines on what constitutes "ejection" offenses when it comes to what a player says? Do you have to warn the player first? Are there guidelines so that when you tell the coach what he said, it's clearly understood? How do coaches make sure players don't step over the line if they don't have that information? I may be all wrong. Maybe it's a clear case. I just doubt it. I think the conference just goes with the "we have to trust the judgement of our referees". You have to have clear information to guide the actions of referees, coaches and players. Aggressive behavior, foul language, and threatening language goes on the entire game. I'd like to know what he said and that this is something that clearly warrants an ejection.

I was told by a player on the team this Monday that he told a ref "their mother__________ holding me!" You can imagine Huds dissapointment in the ref for ejecting Hamilton for his poor choice of words. The ref should have simply warned the kid unless he had been cursing to the ref like that for a while before that last comment.

And he should have ejected Wilborn for ripping McCrays helmet off during the play.
