Senior kicker Brett Baer and sophomore defensive lineman Justin Hamilton reaped the rewards on Monday following UL's season-opening 40-0 win over Lamar as each collected player of the week honors.
Baer was named the Collegefootballperformance.com National Placekicker of the Week and the special teams player of the week by both the Sun Belt Conference and the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association while Hamilton was tabbed as the defensive player of the week by the LSWA and the honorable mention defensive player of the week by Collegeperformance.com.
"Brett and Justin are deserving of these honors because they came to Cajun Field on Saturday ready to play and it showed," head coach Mark Hudspeth said. "They definitely provided us with a spark early in the game, which helped us to dominate Lamar."
