Thread: CUSA bowl eligible teams were 1-10 in first week in OOC action

Default CUSA bowl eligible teams were 1-10 in first week in OOC action

All games played were out of conference (OOC) games. With the best team UCF not being bowl eligible this year and they are likely to win most of their conference games I don't see CUSA placing very many teams into bowls this year. That 1 win was against a 1-AA team. Few games were losses that were within 2 touchdowns, quite a few blowouts. They are 0-1 against Sunbelt. Soon to be 0-2 when stAte beats Memphis this coming Saturday.

Looking ahead, they don't have many winnable OOC games the next 2-3 weeks, top heavy with significant OOC losses very likely........I don't see CUSA being anywhere close to placing enough teams to fill bowl tie ins yet again. Including the New Orleans Bowl.

I noticed nobody mentioned how Texas State beat up on Houston. I love it!

  4. UL Football Re: CUSA bowl eligible teams were 1-10 in first week in OOC action

We got the right Texas teams.

Middle fans were lamenting, just like us, the failure of their president to get into CUSA. Looks like they would fit right in the 1-10 group.

Georgia State is still acting like they want something they have not earned. I understand their team sucking, but for fans wanting the Sun Belt office to move to HotLanta they need to represent better in a home opener. Now to their football progress, getting bullied by South Carolina State 33-6 is not a good sign. Chicken Curry doing his thing, killing programs, even ones still in the process of being birthed.

How many OOC wins do you see next week for CUSA......wins by UCF in conference only adds to losses to bowl eligible teams.

12:00 PM Tulane @ Tulsa » Conf game. Team that starts with Tul will win
12:00 PM UCF @ #18 Ohio State » Both of these are bowl ineligible
12:21 PM East Carolina @ #9 South Carolina » SC wins big
3:30 PM Rice @ Kansas » pretty much a toss up. KU at home
7:00 PM UTEP @ Ole Miss Ole Miss will win at home
7:00 PM Western Carolina @ Marshall » Best chance for OOC win #2
7:00 PM Memphis @ Arkansas State » stAte wine by 21
8:00 PM Louisiana Tech @ Houston » with UH losing by 17 to TxSt....this is a must win for Tech
8:00 PM Stephen F. Austin @ Southern Methodist » SFA can win this one. SMU favored....OOC win #3

Bowl eligible teams could easily go first 2 weeks with 3 OOC wins, all being 1-AA

Sun Belt didn't exactly set any trends this weekend either. I'd shy away from pointing out others flaws.....

Half poking......other half pointing out if they don't start winning OOC games soon they will not come close to having enough bowl eligible teams. New Orleans bowl will be scrambling again for an opponent. The irony is it may end up being TxSt.

UL-Tech in NO Bowl!!!! Is this a possibility or will Tech be committed to another as they surely will win that sorry ___ conference championship!!!! Think that S Miss vs UL would almost be a sell out!!! "We should play SMiss every year in the Dome" La rep Charles Lancaster following as UL win over Tulane in the Stokley era!!!!

Right now, the WAC Champion is committed to the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (formerly the Humanitarian Bowl) in Boise, Idaho. If two teams from the WAC are bowl eligible, then one of the teams could go to another bowl that has an at-large bowl bid available.

Assuming Tech wins the WAC, the Independence Bowl could be an option for Tech if they can't get an SEC team this year. I think they get the 8th or 9th team in the SEC outside the BCS, so the Indy Bowl would probably get the 10th or 11th team from the SEC.

The New Orleans Bowl is possible if there aren't enough C-USA teams eligible. Central Florida is not eligible for a bowl game, and Memphis & UAB will be bad again in 2012. LA Tech and UL-Lafayette in the New Orleans Bowl is a possibility, but it's way too early to start predicting bowl lineups.

WOW, just think....if UL and Tech met in the NO Bowl, you guys would actually play in front of more than 10K fans(for a bowl matchup, that is) and actually put a few dollars in your pocket. Watch what you wish for, though.

Not to worry, Z... if that happens, they will buy 20,000 Tickets for blue tarps to cover the empty seats on their side of the dome.

We do know their fanbase would be out numbered 2-1...

Naw, Z, I think turnabout is fair play. UL should tell the New Orkeans Bowl that we will accept their bid only on the condition that our opponent is not the toothless, inbred rednecks from Louisiana Polytechnic. Maybe Northen Illinois will be available so we can get TV exposure in that major market.

Would love to turn down the Indy Bowl---Tell them that we need more exposure!!! Also that our fans are accustomed to a better social City to spend their money in during the days there!!
