If Monday’s exhibition game showed anything, it’s that UL’s men’s basketball team is going to win with defense.
The Cajuns put on the defensive clamps in Monday’s second half against Spring Hill College, limiting the visiting Badgers to 5-of-20 shooting and outscoring their guests 37-20 after halftime on the way to a 65-51 exhibition victory.
UL’s starting guard threesome of Ross Mouton, David Dees and Rhett Hebert combined for 45 of the team’s 65 points, but head coach Robert Lee liked what he saw on the defensive end a lot more.
“For the most part we played good defense the whole game,” Lee said. “That team’s scary the way they shot the ball against Florida State (15 three-pointers), but in the second half our defensive effort was really good and we defended their shooters really well.”
