  1. UL Basketball Lady Cajuns: Only two-to-2

The best scenario for UL's women's basketball team this week is also the simplest one.

Win two games, win the Sun Belt Conference Western Division for the second time in three years.

If the Ragin' Cajuns can win at Florida International Thursday (6:30 p.m.) and follow with a Sunday home win over North Texas (2 p.m.), UL wins the West, will be the No. 2 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament and will get a first-round bye.

If UL doesn't win both games, things get a little more interesting and the Cajuns (21-7, 12-4) will have to do some scoreboard watching for Arkansas State's results.

  2. UL Basketball Lady Cajuns in no mood to share crown

UL's women's basketball team will go for its second Sun Belt Conference Western Division title in three seasons today, but that's not the ultimate goal.

A Cajun victory over Florida International in their 6:30 p.m. meeting at FIU's Pharmed Arena in Miami would assure the visitors of no worse than a tie for the West crown, but a share isn't what the Cajuns (21-7, 12-4) are focused on.

The UL squad won't be happy with anything less than an outright crown, and to get that they'll need a win today against the homestanding Golden Panthers (15-11, 9-7) - something that's been easier said than done during the years.

UL has one win in its history at Pharmed Arena.
"We've struggled there a lot of times, but this team has played pretty well in a lot of tough places this year," said Cajun coach J. Kelley Hall.

Yes it is. With a win Sunday over NT we will have 23(I believe?). Amazing, but I just dont know if we have the juice to make the NCAA tourney unless we win the Sunbelt tourney!

Either way, this team is amazing.

  12. UL Basketball Lady Cajuns show how the Wild West was Won

All that was left for Yolanda Jones to do was watch the last few minutes tick off the Pharmed Arena clock. Her job, on both ends of the floor, was done.

When those last few minutes expired Thursday night, UL's women's basketball team had its second Sun Belt Conference Western Division championship tucked away.

The Ragin' Cajun squad, given the opportunity to clinch the title courtesy of earlier Thursday results, dominated host Florida International from start to finish in a 75-52 decision that locked up the West crown and a first-round bye in the Sun Belt Tournament.

"Division champions has a nice ring to it," said Cajun coach J. Kelley Hall. "Give these girls a lot of credit. They came in here and dismantled a pretty good ball club."

I thought Jeanenne Colbert was suspended from the University. She played and played well.
