I'm ready to stir the pot !!! This is our Third time that were going to play ASU !!! We led the whole game during our first meeting at home, and lost in OT. The second time we played them we led by 16pts at the half and lost by 16pts, a 32 pt swing. This time it's huge, the winner goes to the Championship Game of the Sun Belt Tournement. What are you going to do Coach Hall ??? Are you going to play your starters 38 and 40 min's and not use your bench again and lose another close one ??? I saw prime examples of that happening last night when there was no need for it. We had a comfortable controling lead most of the game. To make Onna Charles give an intentional quick foul so that a few players could have a time-out rest is just silly. You have a bench, one with talent, one that has bailed you out of games all year long when your forced to use them. This is a team sport, not an individual one, this will need to be a team win. We have a very nice mix of all kinds of talent on this team, and we should use them, if for nothing else, just to give your starters some time to catch there breath since were using our man to man defense alot more.

Kina Miller, Courtney Ratliff and Whitney Dunlop are solid players who can provide valuable time off the bench. Amber Williams, despite not getting much playing time, is a good shooter who can also give you a few minutes. The fatigue which hits at a certain point in the second half could be fatal against a well-rounded seem like Arkansas State. Considering the winner of the semi-final game will have to play another game in less than 24 hours, I believe the bench will have to get playing time not only to win, but to be rested enough should they get to the final. Though this team is incredible shape, more confidence has to be placed in the bench to combat an athletic and deep team such as Arkansas State. Having said this, this is a team to be very proud of. They play with such heart, good execution and skill, it's been a pleasure to watch them this year. Congratulations!

UL women's basketball coach J. Kelley Hall wanted Saturday's Sun Belt Conference Tournament finale to go the other way. And it had little to do with the fact that his Ragin' Cajun team already has lost to Arkansas State twice this year. He wanted a Western Kentucky victory over ASU late Saturday to help his own team's RPI, and its slim chances of earning an NCAA Tournament at-large berth. It didn't happen, so the Cajuns will have to buck a trend at 3 p.m. today when they face ASU's Indians in the tournament semifinals at the Cajundome. Sixth-seeded Arkansas State (20-11) upset third seed WKU 76-67 Saturday to advance to the semis against a UL squad that rolled to a 67-49 victory over Florida International in its first tournament game. "It's not that we're afraid of Arkansas State," Hall said. "But our kids knew that for us to have a better chance down the road, a win over Western would have helped us." What will help his squad more is two more wins in this tournament, and the NCAA bid that goes to the tourney champion, but the Cajuns face a tall ladder beginning today. Jeanenne Colbert credited divine intervention. Every one else was hugging Sonora Edwards, whose three-point play with six seconds left put UL's women's basketball team into today's championship game of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. "We had a preacher come in and talk to us about heart," Colbert said shortly after the Cajuns' 62-59 victory over Arkansas State in Monday's Sun Belt semifinals. "He told us about heart, to never give up and never quit." Heart can be a great thing. On Monday, so was a pass to a wide-open Edwards, behind the ASU defense and under the basket. Is it sacrilegious to talk about UL's women's basketball team and the NCAA Tournament in the same breath? Or is it just insane? Maybe not. It boggles the mind, especially for those whose minds have been on the planet for a few years, but the Ragin' Cajuns are 40 minutes away from the Sun Belt Conference title and a berth in the NCAA's. Granted, it'll be 40 minutes of pure hell, since they're facing Middle Tennessee's devastating Blue Raiders in the Sun Belt title game. If there was a women's basketball betting line, something that will probably come into being just before the apocalypse, it would be well into double digits. But stranger things have happened. When the baseball team was out of the post season last year I noticed it for the first time. When the baseball team was eliminated the media started calling the softball team Ragin Cajuns. Why is that? I thought it was my thinking but they are doing it this year again, the mens baskeball team is out of post season and the girls team is now the Ragin' Cajuns. They need constancy here this is not the right time of year to change a sports team name.

I guess I am out of the Lady Cajun loop somewhat. I have never heard them called "Lady Ragin' Cajuns" at least not that I remember. I can't remember the sport but I have heard the Lady Cajuns called "Cajun Women" and "UL Women" but never "Lady Ragin' Cajuns"

Ragin' Cajuns for the various women’s teams is out there in the regular season as well, however it rarely gets used in newspaper headlines.

My guess is that when you happened to see Ragin' Cajuns in the regular season you (and others) came to the immediate conclusion that it was for 1 of the various men’s teams.

In my opinion we should not have to think about the exact subject when reading a headline. The print media seems to back this up because instead of using the text hogging terms Lady Ragin' Cajuns or Ragin' Cajun Women they have often decided on the concise term UL Women. Which if you ask me is OK but rather bland and generic when compared to Lady Cajuns.

Some radio hosts often fail to use Ragin’ Cajun Women for a very simple reason. It is a very long winded phrase especially during play-by-play... Instead they resort to using the term Cajun Women, which is no different from the fan favorite Lady Cajuns.

In my opinion the noble consolidation attempt to promote the term Ragin' Cajuns has backfired. Unfortunately, lost in translation is a dynamite best ever Lady Cajun basketball team that has no identity of its own.

Do we stand a good chance at getting into the tourney if we lose the game? The Lady Cajuns have done an amazing job this season and a trip to the dance seems in order. To me if you play a close game with MTSU in the finals, that we should get in as well.

Not a chance. RPI is too low, only 1 quality win (top 50 RPI) and way too many higher profile teams ahead of us. We either win or go NITing.
