    Default Re: Ladies win....AGAIN

I think our ladies are fully capable of beating MT. Not sure if they actually will though. I look for them to at least play a good game, close game. As nice as it would be for us to win this one, I look for us to use this to learn about MT and figure them out. That way, come conference tourney time, we can have an even better chance at beating them, when it REALLY counts.

    God Bless

  2. UL Basketball Lady Cajuns in title hunt, face tough foe

UL's Lady Cajun basketball team will play in the Sun Belt Conference's "game of the year" Sunday when the Cajuns visit nationally-ranked Middle Tennessee.

In case someone's been locked away in a time capsule, this is not a misprint.

The program that was at rock-bottom, one that won 26 league games in the entire decade of the '90s and went 15 seasons without a winning record, will actually play a game with NCAA Tournament ramifications at 2 p.m. Sunday at Middle's Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

UL (17-5, 9-2 Sun Belt) is the league's Western Division leader by 1 1/2 games and has won seven straight contests. Middle Tennessee (18-3, 10-0 Sun Belt) is the East Division leader by 2 1/2 games, has won 15 straight games and is ranked 19th nationally in the AP poll.

  4. UL Basketball Lady Cajuns of UL streaks into MTU

One of the UL women's basketball team's goals this week was avoiding foresight.

No one wanted to look ahead to today, to one of the Sun Belt Conference's biggest games of the season, until all other tasks were completed.

But, once the Cajuns had finished off Florida Atlantic 79-61 in Boca Raton, Fla., Thursday night, it didn't take long for thoughts to turn to today's 2 p.m. battle with Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

"It started when we were walking to the locker room," said Cajun coach J. Kelley Hall. "This is a game you don't have to motivate anybody for. It's the kind of game the kids get excited about and that they want to compete in."

The 19th-ranked Blue Raiders (18-3, 10-0), winners of 15 straight games and listed 16th in two different RPI rankings as of Saturday, provide the biggest conference test for a UL squad that has won seven straight and leads the Western Division.

"This is the best team we've played since Tennessee back in November," said Middle coach Rick Insell of the Cajuns. "They're very athletic and long. They really handled Western Kentucky in Bowling Green two weeks ago."

    We lost 84 to 57 . We were only down 4 at half . Ouch ! ! !

  6. UL Basketball Cajun Women fall 84-57

UL's women's basketball squad had things close to where the Cajuns wanted them at halftime of Sunday's pivotal Sun Belt Conference contest at Middle Tennessee.

That was before the host Blue Raiders started raining in shots and the Cajun squad saw its offensive struggles multiply.

Middle put together a 27-3 run in less than seven minutes early in the second half, breaking open a close game and eventually rolling to an 84-57 victory in the matchup of Sun Belt divisional leaders.

The 19th-ranked Blue Raiders (19-3, 11-0 Sun Belt) won a school-record 16th straight game, and for the second game in a row MT broke things open just after halftime.

Get this one out of your system ladies. We have a destiny bigger than one away game with a top 20 team. Geaux Lady Cajuns!!!

  9. UL Basketball Lady Cajuns Control Title Destiny

For the second time in three seasons, UL's women's basketball team can determine its own fate in the Sun Belt Conference Western Division race.

Two seasons ago, the Ragin' Cajun women won six of seven games to end the month of February, including a last-second 66-64 home victory over Arkansas State that gave UL sole possession of the Western Division title.

It was the first conference crown of any type in the program's history.

That season, UL had some wiggle room, being able to afford one loss down the stretch and still claiming the West crown. This season, the scenario is exactly the same.

I am not a big basketball fan in general, but I do support the Cajuns in every sport, and I have to say that the job Coach Hall and his staff have done with this program is nothing short of amazing. Congrats to him and the Lady Cajuns.

Don't worry about this loss. Keep working hard, and your sweat equity (as Coach Robe says) will payoff in the end.

  11. UL Basketball Lady Cajuns heavily favored tonight

It should be a tune-up game to prepare UL's women's basketball squad for the stretch run of the Sun Belt Conference season.

It should be an opportunity for the Ragin' Cajuns to play a lot of players and keep people fresh for that closing drive.

But more than anything else, UL coach J. Kelley Hall is hoping tonight's 7 p.m. non-conference home contest against Savannah State provides a catharsis from last weekend's bitter memories.

UL was woman-handled 84-57 by 20th-ranked Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro Sunday afternoon, and Hall is seeking to put that game out of sight and out of mind at Long Gym tonight.

"We've got to put the Middle Tennessee game behind us," Hall said Tuesday morning. "We'll regroup in practice today (Tuesday) and start doing the things we have to do if we want to take another step forward."

  12. UL Basketball Bench lifts Lady Cajuns to victory

      OK, who threw the switch?

Who took over for UL's women's basketball team, which found itself behind an outmanned Savannah State team 23-20 five minutes before halftime Wednesday night?

It was - surprise - the Ragin' Cajun bench, which contributed two double-figure scorers, 35 points, 22 rebounds and six steals while lighting the fuse in what turned into a runaway 82-51 victory at Long Gym.

The Cajuns (18-6), playing a rare late-season non-conference game, struggled early in hitting only eight of its first 29 shots. Savannah State wasn't faring much better, but did run in six straight points on back-to-back baskets by Ivy Smith and Shamice James to take its only lead.

  14. Default Good Stat Page for the LADY CAJUNS ( YJ Hits 1000 )

I see where 3 Lady Cajuns are averaging double figures. That is pretty good.

On that page if you follow the complete stats link, it shows Yolanda Jones with 400 points on the season. If I am not mistaken she had over 500 points last year so how cool would it be for her to make the 1000 point club in just 2 years.

100 points is no problem. They have at least 8 games left. She'll make it easily.
