LAFAYETTE - An astounding 5,700 fans turned out for annual Ragin' Cajuns Fall Sports Fan Day, presented by MidSouth Bank, Sunday evening at the Cajundome.

Free T-shirts and autograph books, courtesy of MidSouth Bank, were distributed in addition to football, volleyball, soccer, cheerleaders and Ragin' Jazz posters, plus the popular schedule key tags.

The record turnout was treated to performances by the Pride of Acadiana marching band, Ragin' Cajuns cheerleaders and Ragin' Jazz prior to the start of the festivities.

A highlight video, encompassing the key moments of the 2011 season, built the crowds excitement as fans relived the Cajuns journey to the New Orleans Bowl Championship.

Following the video, all eyes were on head football coach Mark Hudspeth as he delighted the Cajuns faithful with another inspiring speech which included praising them for a turnout that was greater than what he remembered from previous coaching stops.

Hudspeth coached up the crowd on plans for generating noise on third and fourth down for opponents which will make Cajun Field an even tougher place to play in 2012.

Players from the 2012 Ragin' Cajuns volleyball squad were introduced, and then the 2012 football squad was welcomed to the event position-by-position.

After introductions an hour-long autograph session on the ground floor inside the arena portion of the Cajundome allowed fans to collect signatures and photos with their favorite Ragin' Cajuns athletes.

RaginCajuns.com's Darren Walker was on hand for the festivities. Click the play button on the photo at the top of the page to view a video recap of Fall Sports Fan Day 2012.
