"It was a great home victory as a team," head coach Scot Wieland said. "The defense played well. Our main goal is always improve every day whether it is in practice or games. We wanted to play better than we did on Tuesday, and we did that."
UL (2-0) outshot the Panthers (0-2) 24-4 in the contest while holding an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Cajuns grabbed the lead in the 17th minute when Melissa Minton knocked in the cross from from Brooke Gros to take a 1-0 lead. The assist was the second of the season for Gros.
Erin Lynn nearly missed netting a goal in the 35th minute as she headed a free ball inside of the 8-yard box that was saved by Prairie View keeper Bianca Garza.
In the 44th minute, Claire Ruehle increased the UL advantage to 2-0 after knocking the rebound from an Elizabeth Manuel shot into the back of the net.

"I'm proud that we had two freshmen notch their first collegiate goals," Wieland added. "That is very special thing. We also had two seniors net goals and Amanda (Moorefield) was able to grab a shutout in the home opener."
The Cajuns return to action on Sunday at 1 p.m. when they head to Oxford, Miss. to face SEC foe Ole Miss in a non-conference matchup.
