The Rayne mother, Shaqueta McDade who is charged with four counts of negligent homicide was in court Wednesday.
Four months ago McDade's trailer went up in flames killing four of her children all under the age of eight. McDade was allegedly at a nightclub when the fire broke out. She was being held on a million dollar bond but family members say they couldn't afford it, a judge reduced the bond to forty thousand dollars and she bonded out of jail.
In late may McDade entered a plea of not guilty to four counts of negligent homicide.
As of 4:15 Wednesday, McDade was still waiting to see a judge. McDade and her family arrived at the Acadia Parish Courthouse just before nine o'clock this morning.Emotions were running high as this is the very beginning of what is expected to be a long legal battle. McDade's attorney Glen Howie and the Assistant District Attorney discussed possible deals according to the Clerk of Courts Office. McDade refused to answer any questions before walking into court.
So far, no word on when McDade's trial will be set.
