It is not about whether a bowl game wants the Cajuns or another at large sunbelt possibility. It is instead about what choices they happen to have. Two years ago Troy was "selected" because there were not enough bowl eligible teams, per the tie ins for bowls.Originally Posted by cajunref

If there are not enough bowl eligible teams to fill the bowls, per the tie ins, then the Cajuns will be competing with other sunbelt teams, wac and mac teams (that are below their tie in levels) for bowl game invites. And all of those teams Cajuns are competing with will have the same problem of $$$$$.
With new rules, if a team like Ole Miss is 6-6 and Cajuns are 7-5, then Cajuns have to be considered ahead of Ole Miss. Simple as that. It all depends on how many 7-5 or better teams are out there from BCS conferences, as well as MW, USA, and other more desireable conferences.
If there is a possibility of extra at large bids, then cajuns have to out shine teams like Troy for that bid and will not have to worry about out shining teams like Ole Miss or Tulane because if those teams are 7-5 they will go over the Cajuns automatically, through tie ins, or they will easily get an at large over cajuns.
