I don't think the difference between 9-3 and 8-4 will matter to the bowls that could pick Cajuns for at large (if their tie in conferences do not have enough bowl eligible teams). Those bowls will only care about fan support and whether the name of the school is better than others competing for the same spot.

If Cajuns are passed over at 7-5 or 8-4, they will likely get passed over at 9-3 as well.

Please explain to me how you see see UL becoming co-champs? I am just a little confused here.

If MT loses 1 conference game, they would be 6-1 and UL is already 1-1 the best they can go is 6-1. MT beat UL so they hold the tiebreaker over UL correct? I think MT has to lose 2 of their remaining 3 conference games for UL to be considered conference champs.

I don't think UL will win the next 5 games. I love this team, but if we don't go to Troy with guns blazing we aren't going to win the last 5 games. I say we finish 7-5 or 8-4 and we pulled through.

There has to be some big changes and quick if we want to get out of this slump we are in. I'm sure coaches are watching the tapes and to me it can't be hard to figure out UL right now.

    As far a bowl goes... I'm optimistic that 8-4 gets us into a bowl game. I'd say 9-3 I wouldn't even worry. 7-5 I don't think so.

The only difference at the end of this season if both UL and MT are 6-1 in conference is that MT would have the tiebreaker to go to New Orleans. If you'll remember last season, we had the same conference record at the end of the season as co-champ Ark. St. The only difference was that since ASU held the tiebreaker over us, it was they who went to the NO bowl. Remember, conf. record determines champ, and tiebreakers are used to determine who goes to NO Bowl.

Whether we are in contention for the NO Bowl, a conference championship (or co-champ), an at-large bowl bid, a winning season, or whatever... every game for us is a "must show up big-time". We are trying to build every aspect of this program from fan involvement, contributions, recruiting, recognition, and the list goes on.

UL has to compete each and every down from here on out, even if we are guaranteed a losing record. The program does not go into "reset" once the season is over... we have to grab every possible positive we can get. Unlike some schools, they can slam their coach, players and anything else into the ground and still come back the next year and throw $$$ at it and perhaps solve it. We do not have the luxury of holding out for a possible pot at the end of this year's rainbow. That pot will come in time if we KEEP IMPROVING. I am never ever going to quit the Cajuns... I just want every chance for improvement to be taken with a vengence!

You are so right. So many on here are talking 7-5/8-4/9-3. We need to be talking 5-3; then 6-3 and so on. We have only one game to be thinking and talking about and that is the NEXT one and only the next one. Everyone started yapping after we beat Houston and we've looked like C_ _P ever since.

Absolutely. I have enough respect for our team and Bustle's staff that they will regroup... but that Houston win may have had something to do with lackluster performances against FAU and MTSU. Young teams, hungry for respect, get overwhelmed with "big wins". I could be wrong on that, but I think it got into some of our player's heads, as I have seen it consumed by some on this site. I love em all, but I like to see improvement as the goal rather than record forecasting.

bowl games are all about $$$$$$$$$$. We can't even put 20K consistantly in our own stadium, what makes you think the bowl committee will believe we will travel a good crowd. Look I am as big of a cajun fan as anyone on this board, but to think we will get a bowl without winning the sunbelt is crazy.

I tend to agree, unless we go 9-3, put over 23-24K in the stands the rest of the way, I just don't see us getting in, just being realistic. The sunbelt still has a ways to go before we can remotely be considered more than a one bid league. Hopefully that will be in the not too distant future.

Acctually, our attendance is comparable to Troy and the key is not how many people "go" to the game, its how many tickets the school is willing to buy. If I remember correctly, Troy bought a large amount of tickets to the game which helped the bowl game make money regardless of how many fans were in the stands. I have a feeling that UL will pony up the money to buy a large allotment of tickets to any game poissible.

Wrong. With the new bowl selection rules, it is highly likely that the Belt is at least a two bid conference now.
