So here's my email:
And here's the response:Dear Dr. Authement,
I am deeply troubled by the continued lack of a website for athletics. Last year ragincajuns.com was taken offline, supposedly temporarily, for a redesign. While I found this interruption in service unnecessary, as websites are constantly updated and redesigned in a more seamless fashion, I did not get too upset.
Now it is many months later and still we have no ragincajhuns.com. The “replacement” site is so inadequate that it appears a child is responsible. I cannot convey how frustrating this is for an alumnus and fan of the Ragin Cajuns. To have no official athletics website for such a period of time, to say nothing of the length of the absence, is completely unacceptable. As president of the university, you should be embarrassed. I know I am.>
I’m sure you can provide a litany of excuses for the delay, but I > frankly don’t care to hear them. There is no justification. Do you think other universities operate in this way? As a college sports
fan, I can assure you they do not.
Not exactly the detailed, informed answer I was hoping for. The company is "taking longer than expected." Wow, thanks, Dr. A. But at least we have a sponsor if and when it's completed.I make no excuses; I will provide the facts as I know them.
We have contracted with XO's Company to develop a new website for athletics. They are taking longer than expected to complete the job.
We are in the process of completing an agreement with Cox Communications wherein they will serve as a major sponsor of the website. Terms of the agreement will be announced in early April.
Sincerely,
Ray Authement
President
Pathetic.
Cox has agreed to put up $2 MILLION in Cash for Athletics and some $2 Million in in-kind services for athletics! I would certainly call this a MAJOR sponsor!!Originally Posted by Kernel

That's great. But that has nothing to do with the fact we've had no athletics website for many months now.Originally Posted by DaddyCajun
Whats the point of athleticnetwork.net anyway? Its pretty pointless to me. Theres no need for 2 athletic websites.
Athletic Network is serving the purpose it is serving becasue of the other site being down. As I remember, before the ath. site went down, that athletic network site was strictly a networking site to contact former atheltes and alumni, and set some other stuff that probably aren't usually found on a regular athletic website.Originally Posted by cjntgr
The cox thing will be nice. Is that donation supposed to be per year (probably not) or broken up over a few years?
I'm kinda suprised you got a response. I wonder if i e-mail him asking him how long until he retires, if i would also get a response.Originally Posted by Kernel

Worst thing he'll say is "No" then return to his hyperbaric/carbon freezing chamber in an effort to out live all of us.
speaking of outliving. Anyone else ever hear the rumor of Ray wanting to "out-service" the fellah they have running UNO? Apparently the UNO guy has bee there longer, and therefore, the rumor is that Ray won't leave until that guy leaves and then ray will serve his tenure longer, and then finally retire.Originally Posted by AstroCajun
