Pitcher for Louisiana (USL) in 1962, 1963. Went on to play baseball in the Mets system.

While pitching at Tidewater (Mets AAA) Gerald was the #4 starter on a staff that included Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, and Jerry Koosman.

His career was cut short by injury
