| "During the 1904 season the team won all its games but one, played Company "K" of Lake Charles on Thanksgiving Day, which ended in a scoreless tie. This last game was no doubt the hardest of the year. The Lake Charles team represented a unit of the State Militia. Members of the team were mostly former Tulane and L.S.U. players. They looked like giants to me. I took notes on the game. In the early part of the second half, McNeese, playing left and was carried off the field and when the coach looked toward the bench, I really got busy with my notes. Prosser was called in and was very much bruised up, while the write-up of the game, which I submitted, won for me the post of Editor-in Chief of "The Vermilion". Such is football". | |
