Lafayette Parish Schools Kick-Off Another Year
As buses roll in, so do the changes this school year.
Lafayette High implementing a 90-day plan as a roadmap for the year, hoping to improve in every direction."As far as community, school, academics, extra curricular, the school itself and the way we look."
Principal Dr. Patrick Leonard also wants to instill a greater sense of Mighty Lion pride.
"The students can proudly say I'm a Mighty Lion and we are successful across all arenas. Take care of business or business will take care of you."
This year there's more than 2500 students on campus at Lafayette High School, that's even more students than last year. Those we spoke with say it's slightly overwhelming but they're ready to accept the challenge.
"My classes are very large, larger than they've ever been."
Rodolfo Espinoza teaches social studies and mainly freshman.
He says more students make it difficult to accomplish mandated goals in the classroom, but he'll do as he always does, try to make a difference."If we establish a life-long interest in the subject, an interest in the world, we'll have created a life-long learner who will have all the tools to be successful in life," said Espinoza.
