The UL softball program has added junior transfer Kristin Martinez, a left-handed pitcher from Kansas, to their 2012-13 recruiting class head coach Michael Lotief announced on Thursday.
Martinez appeared in 26 games last season, while going 6-3 with a 3.57 ERA. She recorded 43 strikeouts in 67.1 innings pitched and will be a junior and eligible to play for the Cajuns in the 2012-13 season.
The Texas City, Texas native becomes the second transfer the Ragin' Cajuns have added this offseason, joining Baylor transfer Shelbi Redfearn.
"Kristin brings a different look and adds depth to our pitching staff," head coach Michael Lotief stated. "She is our first left-hander in quite some time."
The southpaw finished her two-year stint at Kansas with an 18-13 record and a ERA of 3.39. She was named Rookie of the Year her freshman season after posting a 12-10 record with eight complete games and two shutouts.
