The Anderson & Hester Rankings are distinct in four ways:
1. These rankings do not reward teams for running up scores. Teams are rewarded for beating quality opponents, which is the object of the game. Margin of victory, which is not the object of the game, is not considered.
2. Unlike the A.P. and coaches' polls, these rankings do not prejudge teams. These rankings first appear after the season's fifth week, and each team's ranking reflects its actual accomplishments on the field, not its perceived potential.
3. These rankings compute the most accurate strength of schedule ratings. Each team's opponents and opponents' opponents are judged not only by their won-lost records but also, uniquely, by their conferences' strength (see #4).
4. These rankings provide the most accurate conference ratings. Each conference is rated according to its non-conference won-lost record and the difficulty of its non-conference schedule.
Finally some R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Now lets keep moving forward.
hypothetical question: If we would run the table the rest of the way (not that we will, cuz I don't wanna jinx us) how high could we conceivably climb on the BCS ranking?
God Bless
GEAUX UL RAGIN CAJUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very little to no chance of that happening. We didn't have a good enough showing against lsuambr or tamu. Many, many teams would have to seriously collapse the second half of the season.Originally Posted by Sid
Still, being the highest nationally ranked sunbelt team by a good margin says alot about our program.
and up there we are... wowOriginally Posted by Kal

While it's nice to be ranked that high, I don't really see UL as being better than 70 teams in Div I-A at the moment.
That opinion could change based on Saturday, though.
If you click on the Louisiana Lafayette hyperlink on the sight and look at our schedule and Troy's, you'll see that NC A&T is ranked 106 and ULM is ranked 110. This could be a misprint but if not that means that all those people that complained about us playing NC A&T should really be complaining that NC A&T isn't in our conference and ULM is. According to this list, our blowout of the aggies did more for us strength of schedule wise than a win over the warhawks will.Originally Posted by ULforlife
Personally I don't want to see NC A&T in the sunbelt. Come to think of it I really don't want Monroe in there either.
Got one even better than that....Originally Posted by ULforlife

Wait a minute. They have us ranked above Oklahoma, Alabama, etc.? As much as I love this high of a ranking, I don't buy it. Either we're too high or those teams are too low. I'm afraid at this point I fall into the "we're ranked too high" category. One day in the not-too-distant future I believe we might make it this high (at least!) legitimately. But not yet. However, it does show tremendous progress and new-found respect for our FB program. And that's a good thing!Originally Posted by andrepourciau
