Dave you dont know anything about what I support. I believe Hud is the best thing ever happened to UL. Unfortunately Marlin is the worst. I really like how you cant see the forest for the trees. I'm not calling raymone a monster, but nor is marlin. They did not get along and ultimatley the hc has the power to decide the final outcome. Marlin made his decision and we all have to live with it. If raymone was the angel you claim them someone anyone would be signing the kid no matter what marlin blackballed (not blacklisted) and I can sEe the forest through the trees (not see the forest for the trees). Here is a much more likely scenario, they asked Marlin what happened and he told them, then they wanted to get the other side of the story to see which held more water. If the players excuse was plausible an offer would have been made, otherwise they would not have made the call at all.

But I can tell you this if the last coach had said Francis was a headache, the recruiting would have stopped right there.

OOOOh! I don't know about that last statement Big Daddy. I think most or all of these guys can be a headache in one way or the other at one time or other. It's how you apply the BC Powder that makes the difference. Is Marlin able to mix discipline with a little love to let these guys know he can not only bust their butts but he cares about them also? Is Marlin doing his due dilligence or has he found his pot of gold & is he now satisfied with a pretty fair mid major 6 figure salary & the associated perqs? Am I being fair to ask theses questions? How much longer does this coach need to get the corner turned? I read where one of the fellow posters stated it took Duke 8 years to turn it around. Can that fellow poster promise 20 tournament appearances & multiple NCAA championships & numerous sweet 16s after 6 more seasons? If I felt the fish were capable, I'd be screaming that we need to be fair. But right now folks, it don't look good on the home front on the hard wood.

In his first two seasons with a slew of malcontents, he has already put together two non losing seasons in a row under his belt.

This after taking over a program that was allowed to produce seven straight losing seasons.

Here's the problem with that realm of thinking Turbine. You are saying that what was good enough during the rudderless Authiment regime should be the same measuring stick to use now. Well, if that's the case & everyone enjoys the massive back slide the SBC has done in basketball being led astray by the likes of UL, then it's all good. Now, if people ever wish to see the Cajundome again filled while holding a UL roundball contest, then the powers that be, better start getting the same vision for the round ballers that someone finally got for football a few years ago. I am simply asking does this vision include Bob Marlin or does it not?

The cute lil squeeze Coach Marlin had at the RCAF casino party has been his wife for about a year. As far as his salary/future here, he will be here at least for two more seasons. He signed a five year contract when he took the job and has three remaining. We won't buy out more than one year. Granted, he does need to show improvement. It is understandable that people are not optimistic about this coming year due the atttrition. However, none of us know how well the eight new players coming on board will perform. They could lay the groundwork for success or make us wonder how they were given a scholarship. We will start finding out in November.

No wonder he's having trouble keeping pace on the court if he's getting a beat down at the house like that. I'd be worn out too!

Looking more and more like I will have plenty of leg room at the dome this BB season. Nothing better than to drape your legs over the empty chairs in front of you. Almost like a recliner, just not as soft. Maybe i can move down to the players' seats, I think they are cushioned and god knows there will be some empty ones.

There will be two empty seats on the players bench at most. You can have 13 players on scholarship and we have 11 at this time. Many teams don't have their full allotment. With only one senior on the team and one commitment already garnered for the following year, we will have only two scholarships to give in the early signing period which occurs in mid-November.

I can take you back 5 years and my statements about how "you never let a player hold a program hostage" the cleanup of the last two years is what I was afraid of. I didn't know when it would happen it was just inevitable that there would be a cleansing either from the top down or the bottom up.

In the current case there is no scandal, what Marlin did was lock up a player in case he was cleared in time, he wasn't, nothing lost.

Two very good points. On the second one, people need to read and re-read that ... they signed a good size player to fill a void; time was of the essence. Then they did a full review of his current situation and realized that it was probably best to not retain the player.
