Thread: The race to the New Orleans Bowl is hot!

Default The race to the New Orleans Bowl is hot!

MTSU and Arkansas State are both 3-0 in Conference play.

Troy is 1-0 and Louisiana is 1-0

There doesn't seem to be a lot of room for a slip up if we plan on going to the New Orleans Bowl.

We are past the years of North Texas running away with the conference... it's a much tighter conference and right now Arkansas State is defending the chance to go back to the New Orleans Bowl.

We definitely have a chance to knock Middle Tennessee at home on the 28th, but we have a long road ahead. There may very well be an undefeated team in conference play.... let's hope it's the Cajuns.

I know it's one game at a time. Just thought I'd point out that we got a tough road ahead, but this team is very capable.

Who plays who the rest of the season?

Match ups and Home or Away and when the games are being played would be interesting!!!

I know ASU only has 1 more home game but I am not sure against who.

I think this is good for the conference...

    ASU 5-2
    MTSU 4-2
    UL 4-2

We have been needing teams to step up and have a solid record in and out of conference and it looks like it is finally starting to happen.

Good news is that these undefeated teams still have to play each other. That's the good thing about having only 8 teams in the SBC. Everyone plays everyone else. So at the end of the season, you can only have one team that goes undefeated in conference play. Hopefully that team is UL this season.

It is too early to count all others out, but here are the undefeated team's remaining matchups. MT and Troy have SEC games right before they play each other... interesting. UL obviously has to worry about UL, and just take care of business.

HOWEVER, as a UL fan, I am watching these other games with great interest. I have rooted for the other Sunbelt schools to do well in non-conference games, but now I am looking for everyone but UL to start evening out each other's records. Geaux Cajuns... Beat the Blue Raiders!!!

Just remember, we only have to worry about ourselves not the rest of the conference. They can win as many games as they want. The only way they're getting to a N.O. bowl is if we lose. If we run the table we're locked in.

No doubt you are correct. Our football team has to stay on mission and take each game one game at a time, one play at a time. However, I like the insurance runs. I am going to hope for all of the stars, the moon, and other celestial bodies to come into complete alignment, regardless. I want all of the mojo to go our way.

I def. agree with you guys. UL holds its own fate. We have no more out of conference games.

I'm just saying that as good as we are this year, one slip up may cost us the shot this year. Last year we were 5-2 in Sun Belt and we didn't go to the New Orleans Bowl. This year I believe the team that makes it to the New Orleans Bowl will be 7-0 or 6-1 in the conference.

Preseason polls don't mean anything now.

MT is 4-3, not 4-2. I should say 4-4 after this weekend!!!
