Thread: ROUX: UL signs Gold in Ashley Brignac

  1. UL Softball ROUX: UL signs Gold in Ashley Brignac

The Louisiana Lady Cajuns softball team received one of the biggest commitments in the program's history Wednesday night, when John Curtis pitcher Ashley Brignac issued a verbal pledge to coaches Stefni and Michael Lotief.

"I liked everyone in the program," Brignac said. "The coaches are really passionate about what they do. They are all very motivated."

Brignac, who has earned All-State and All-District Most Valuable Player honors in each of the last two seasons, was named Miss Softball and the Gatorade Player of the Year this past season.

I imagine playing for the Lotiefs is like a second family, at least that's how many of the players have characterized it. I think she will be happy with her choice. Welcome to UL!

Even with people reading this article and saying "wow" I really don't think people realize just how good of a deal we are getting with ashley.

    This is just unbelievable.

The next five years of softball I'm calling 2 trips to the WCWS.

  8. UL Softball Lady Cajuns signee Ashley Brignac making big waves in Puerto Rico

If there were any doubts about how big a signing pitcher Ashley Brignac was for the UL softball team, those were dispelled over the weekend. All Brignac did was throw no-hit ball in two different games for the USA Junior Women’s National Team Friday and Monday.

The first was for just three innings, but by that time her U.S. squad already had a comfortable lead over Venezuela, and ended up taking an 8-0 five-inning win in the opening game of the Junior Women’s Pan American qualifier in Caguas, Puerto Rico.

The second came on Monday when Brignac got her second start, and she didn’t cry for Argentina by striking out seven of the nine batters she faced during a 12-0 win.

That is right. Many big colleges were after her, just goes to show you how great people like Coach Mike and Steff are, and it rolls over to the whole team.

And of course there is those Cajun Fans, GOT TO LOVE THEM, CAUSE THEY LOVE YOU!!!

  12. UL Softball UL signee Ashley Brignac wins international honor

Brignac, who signed with the Cajuns in the early signing period during the first week of November, had a 4-0 pitching record during the round-robin event and threw a one-hit shutout in a 7-0 gold medal-game win over host Puerto Rico. In that five-inning game, she struck out 15 of the 17 batters she faced.

Brignac, a two-time state high school Outstanding Player and last season's Miss Softball in Louisiana, struck out 36 batters n 14 innings in the tournament and allowed only the one title-game hit in the tournament.
