well, I understand now that this year is an "experimental year for sbc teams and that they can choose to use which review system they want "whatever that means".. hopefully they can come to a universal one that works for everyone. I think it'll take a while to work the kinks out....

The defense looks pretty good. When was the last time we could rely on our defense??

We are a obvious play calling team. We knew what the OC was gonna call and so did FAU. No imagination to overcome the defense. Against Houston I saw HEART and GUTTS playing. Those guys played with intensity. We run the same plays over and over and the defense knows how to defend us. NO end around this time for a big play like in Houston. When our Offensive line can open up holes for the running backs we do have some good runs, but when they are stopped, it is time to do something else. FENROY is the guttest back I have seen in decades. He ran on HEART LAST, breaking tackles to get more, if it had not been for him the offense would have not been in a position to score a field goal.
Maybe the Offensive coordinator learned something this game cause I am sure Troy, Middle, ULM , and ASU did. WE are gonna have to bust our butts to beat these guys now cause play calling like last night won't WIN.

    GEAUX CAJUNS.
Thanks for the response. Last night sincerely was, for me, the worst showing by the Cajun offense in a long time, and it did remind me of some past performances I'd like to forget. I think I've come to my own conclusion based on USLJim's, as well as everyone else's, insight- that it was just a bad night all around. The coaches had trouble and the offensive players had trouble, particularly Babb. I guess that is bound to happen from time to time, especially on the road. And, in the end, the bottom line for me, as I've already said, is the Cajuns did win, which I feel is not something we would have been able to do in the past with an offensive performance like that. So, to me, we have come a long way.

Anyway, I can't wait for homecoming! See all of you there. Beat the Blue Raiders! Geaux Cajuns!

Look, I wasn't impressed very much with the game last night. Having said that, there are some positives that we are missing.

#1- (this one is obvious) the defense did an excellent job making the plays it needed to in the clutch situations.

#2- we had yet another blocked field goal. Can somebody total up the number of block punts, field goals, and PAT's for the last 2 years? I'm pretty sure we're one of the best in the country.

#3- it's a win. That's all I have to say for that one.

#4- This is the sunbelt. Home field advantage makes a difference. Anytime a sunbelt team goes on the road and gets a win (no matter how ugly) it's a big accomplishment.

#5- FAU showed up and gave us their best shot for national TV. I don't think we can say that that was our best. We are much much better than what we saw last night. Everyone, even BCS teams, have bad games, and they rarely come out the victors.

#6- Fenroy is approx. 90 yds closer to his second straight 1000yd season.

and finally.... We are 1-0 in the conference.

There were alot of bad points to the game. There were some good things too. What we've got to do is let this game go and focus on HOMECOMING. Make sure we pack the swamp on October 28th!!!!

Last night they showed the stat that in the last 4 years we have blocked 28 kicks, which is a great number. As far as everything else you said I agree...everybody has bad games, ____ Boise State had trouble with New Mexica State Sunday night. We just need to move on and I am confident that the coaches will have the guys ready to beat a good Middle Tenn. team in 10 days.

I just joined the site recently, and I enjoy reading everyone's opinion, but hadn't posted yet. If I wasn't a fan, I wouldn't have said anything. I know some of the biggest Cajun supporters who probably can't even turn on a computer, much less negotiate their way to this site.

Once again, If anything I said hurt any fan's feelings, I apologize. If any players read this and I hurt their feelings, good. Get over it, and get fired up. Fan's can be overly critical at times and if you can't handle it, you are not cut out for college sports. Little League is played for fun. When you get to this level, you play to win. During the game they listed one of the great traditions at Notre Dame as slapping the "Play like a champion, Today" sign before heading out on the field. I don't think we as fans deserve anything less.

Anyway, I have calmed down from last night and have moved on. I just wanted to see if anyone was watching the same game, and noticed the same things I did. Looks like some did. Looks like some think I'm too negative. I like to call it competitive.

The header for my post was meant to start a discussion. Now that it's changed, maybe they should consider changing the name of the message board from "RAGE PAGE", to "IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL PAGE". And yes, I am just trying to be funny.
Being a fan and venting is one thing. Calling our guys an "National TV embarrassment" is another. While you may know posters who can't find their way to a computer, I assure you our players can. And the team, and particularly the defense, didn't deserve that.

AND making your first post titled "National TV embarrassment" does not set you off on the right foot.

I'm glad you're calmer now and I look forward to more calmer discussions with you.

4-2 looks pretty good right now, doesn't it?

Here is a fact that most seem to not think about. If the cajuns won tonite 45-43 in a shootout, we WOULD NOT be harping on the defense like we are harping on the offense. There were 6 turnovers, but we also held them to about 250 yards total offense, 0 points, and 6 turnovers...thats what you call a butt whippen! Those 6 turnovers werent just flukes either, for instance, that pop we had on their running back could be the hardest hit I've seen all year long! They were deep in our territory, and legitimately, that took points off the board for them!

With that said, we need Brandon Cox healthy for our offense to run right, I was dissapointed at the end of the game as it seemed like we were gonna try to run out the clock when I thought we needed to get a first or 2 to insure the win. I do have to give some credit to FAU, they are NOT as bas as their 2-5 record, and I think that its possible that they win out, or win 5 of the last 6 for a 6-6/7-5 type record. Very good team defense and coached VERY well. They did beat ULM on the road , and we beat them on the road and road wins are just not easy to come by.

The bright side of all this is this...we have the best overall record in conference, we're one of 4 teams that are undefeated in conference, and we knocked off a team that was, we have the longest conference winning streat (6 games), and a decent sized non-bcs win streak (which is who we need to compare ourselves to) at 9 games now. We've won our last 4 conference road games, and only go on the road in conference 2 more times (Troy and FIU).

Final summation, we didnt show our our offense on the national scale...but we sure as hell showcased our Defense to the whole world by making FAU look like a junior high offense.

Like rex grossman said after Chicago beat Arizona, "Lets celebrate the win for right now...we'll have all week (for us, 10 days) to talk about how bad our offense played"

I'm good with that. On to the next game. However...

This is an open site and as long as folks stay within dignified limits, it is an ideal spot to share thoughts. I don't care what you state publicly, but just like the Dixie Chix (sp don't care), you give it, you take it.

I personally like bantering about the game last night and anything else. I see no harm. At least there are people who care how UL fairs in the world of sports. As for those who only make cameo appearances to chunk a grenade... pull the pin and throw it back. They are usually morons, from what I can tell.

On to homecoming and whipping up on MT. Geaux Cajuns!!!!

Man, considerin where we've come from, you'd figure we'd be happy about a win. I know I sure as heck am. But no, some of y'all are gettin yer britches all twisted up. If dope was legal, I'd make most of y'all smoke it too CHILL OUT!!!

That being said, I'd like to say that I do not condone the use of dope, nor do I disagree with the fact that in spite of this not so pretty win that is STILL A WIN! YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!, the sun will still rise in the east and set in the west.

Here's to a good HC game against MT. See all you boogers there!

    Peace and God Bless

Some of us are realists. That was a sham of a football game. One of the worst I've ever witnessed I doubt if 1000 people across the nation were even watching at the end.

The Sun Belt ought to be embarrassed with the play, coaching and their own pitiful set up for replays. We really only scored 3 points if you take away the gimme first field goal.

I hope we got it out of our system because we won't win many more playing like we did last night. We really need to be grooming someone to take over at QB as Babb's decision making for the most part this year resembles the play of a Freshman or Sophomore player, not a senior.
