Yes it's Spedale's. I'm curious to know how much that cost them, as they are going to get typically at least 10 spots in a game. (It's the Advertising major in me.)

BOP, how much does a 60 second radio spot go for on your show?

Sooooo! It IS your fault after all!! I knew it. Zeebart was trying to mislead me when he whispered "Baldwin" (or was that "Rosebud"?).

Me and a friend were talking and he is a lsu fan but me and him have some pretty good talks about UL and LSU. This was before the FAU game that I thought we could go 10-2. He said that we could but he thought 9-3 was more realistic because of a let down game. And after the FAU game I told him we survived our let down game and he agreed. With that said I agree with what you just said.

  5. UL Football Win softens edges of tumultuous trip

It’s a good thing for the UL football team that they survived their first Sun Belt Conference test of the season Wednesday night. Otherwise, things would have been even more miserable than they wound up being.

The Cajuns held on in the closing seconds for a 6-0 victory over Florida Atlantic in Fort Lauderdale, and that’s the last good thing that happened to the team between the final gun and its arrival back in Lafayette — an arrival that happened after 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

The squad was scheduled to arrive back at Lafayette Regional Airport at approximately 2 a.m. following the game on their charter flight. But that looked shaky even before takeoff from Fort Lauderdale because of weather in the Acadiana area.

The flight circled Lafayette for a while, but eventually had to be diverted to Houston’s Hobby Airport were the flight touched down at 3 a.m. Not good, but better than the other option, which was a divert to Memphis.

Waiting for the weather to clear and getting back on the plane wasn’t an option, partly because of weather and partly because of the plane’s crew already being at its maximum flying hours. The options then became a hotel stay in Houston and busing to Lafayette Thursday morning, or busing without the hotel stay.

I think you just explained why they paid the money for the first down call.

    I don't know. I don't sell advertising.

Spedales bought the first downs and they also get three commercials in each football game plus a commercial in the coach's show.

On an average, they'll probably get closer to 15 first down mentions per game.

My understanding is they gave em a really good deal. But I don't know what it was.

We're just glad to have em on board. If you do business with them, make sure you tell them WHY.

All I said was that I thought the play calling was bad and that I didn't see the same energy and emotion as in previous games.

As for this being the same offense as the Houston game, I agree that it was the same plays. The difference is that those plays were working against Houston, so there was no reason to do anything different. They were not working against FAU, so why did we keep running them. I have confidence in our coaching staff and I think that the system is good, but you have to be able to adjust if the need arises, which it did.

I am not satisfied with "squeaking out" a W against one of the worst teams in D1-A Football. If FAU ends up 6-1 in the Sunbelt, I'll eat a little crow, but I don't think I'll have to worry. But, like I said, I'm over it. If we win the Sunbelt and go to the NO Bowl, I probably be like, "FAU who, oh yeah, we beat them."

And your point is well taken. But that happens in football, and in all sports for that matter. No one plays on the same level every single game. The great programs even go through that, but no one notices because they are so good.

I think we had a little letdown after Houston. When you have thousands of people telling you how good you are and ten coaches trying to get your head out of your ***, what you saw Wednesday night happens from time to time.

The good news is that we weren't nearly at our best and still won the game.

That's the sign of a good football team. Last year we'd have lost that game.

Will do, Jay. But I would honestly rather be telling it to Pappa John's than to Spedales. Just never developed a taste for flower petals.

Jay can you tell me what you think about this...me and a friend were talking about the cajuns chances of going 10-2 I know thats tough to win that many games in a row but what he says and I agreed was that he didn't think they could because they would have slip up somewhere. Well Thursday I told him that I think we had our slip up and survived. Is that something that you can see or is that just fan speak i guess you could say?

Is it a possibilty? Sure it is.

But I don't think they can go out and do what they did Wednesday night and beat many teams left on the schedule.

They'll be favored to win in every game the rest of the season, with possible exception of Troy. The other tough games are at home and they'll be favored to win those, even ASU.

With four out of the last six at home, running the table is possible. But, they need to stay away from turnovers and stupid penalties. They need to execute in every game.
