I see things similar to you, with a small twist. When you say that Robe prepares players (baseball and life after), part of that preparation is instilling the fire you mentioned. If we are going to credit Robe for some player attributes, it is unfair to say that he also isn't partially responsible for getting these guys "motivated". If Robe says "you guys aren't motivated" and uses language and actions to work on that... it isn't correct just because he pointed at them... that "we" point at them. He is the master baseballer at UL. The program either works... or it does not work. He weaves the thread. We can talk all day about the baseball players... but Robe is 100% responsible for them from our, the fans, perspective.
I agree with the "careful what you wish for"... however. But, I'm not sure we have a "fire Robe" discussion going on. We have a "do something about this, Robe" discussion going on. I think that we indeed should "want what we're wishing for"... an improved baseball situation. You are absolutely correct in that "Robe is the man that gave many on here expectations in the first place". I'm not going back to pre-Robe, because there were other issues I'd rather not rehash.
From what I heard, Robe has done some serious work in the offseason already to get us in much better shape this coming year. If we flounder like we did this past season... Robe should take the heat. If he is intimidating the players, as someone mentioned, to a negative effect at the plate... then "he" is at fault. He has lost the art of "giving fire" without "burning people". If that improves this coming year... we'll all be happy campers. We shall see...
