Thread: Robichaux and his method.....

  1. Default Robichaux and his method.....

Wow, I can't believe i am about to type this.....

Is it time for Robichaux to go?.......

I just checked the stats of our UL players in their summer programs, and can't understand why UL is struggling so much on the Baseball Diamond? Is it poor coaching? dare I say that, but these players are really performing extremely well away from Moore Field this summer and it has me thinking is it Robichaux or his method of coaching? Maybe its neither, maybe its the relaxed atmosphere the players are excelling in, or maybe it is the combination of everything, just my 2 cents feel free to chime in and blast me, I just felt the need to propose this question.

And maybe it is the great coaching that they received this year that is kicking in place!!!! Let's all get season tickets and see these guys this Spring!!!!

This topic has been discussed ad nauseam on the board. A few die hard anti-robe fans have been around a while. It seems that some of the long time staunch Robe supporters are starting to sway their opinion somewhat. It seems to me that was always have good young talent, but for whatever reason, they are gone or never live up to expected potential. I think Robe is one of the best coaches out there, but as you said, his methods may not be adaptable to this generation of players. With that said, I feel the young talent we showed this year, we are a VERY VERY STRONG team for the 2014 season. (Barring those defecting the program)

One players dad told me the kid said when he got up to bat his butthole was so tight cuz Robe whines and moans constantly in the dugout about the hitters not doing their job and depending on the pitchers. <----- HEARSAY from a parent. Take it with a grain of salt.

I don't know the answer either but he does need something. It's hard to tell from a distance but one thing is for sure: the program has lost its excitement and enthusiasm. I hope something can be done.

Well, I surely understand the dissappointment after a last place finish. I never thought i would ever see the day that this program would come in dead last, but it can happen. Many of us ole-timers agree that the turnover in recruiting coordinators
has hurt our talent level. It takes time to build relationships with HS coaches and players. We were awfully young, but not an
excuse i like to see because we should be re-stocking on a yr to yr basis, but this team will improve fast. Most feel that Robe deserves anoter shot at bringing us back to the Top of the SBC. I tend to agree, but i really would like to see some improvement in basic fundamentals. Any good team starts there, and any lack there of is a sign.

If you've never been closer to the program other than watching through the fence, please don't comment on this. This man is the reason you all have the expectations that you do. It's not always coaching that is the problem. It's the players responsibility to play with a fire to refuse to lose. Robe has done so much for the program and university. He's got my support for life. He prepares his players for battle on the baseball field and life after baseball. The last few years have been a dip down, but we are on the way up. Be careful what you wish for.

And to reply on the players dad who's kid was 'tight'... It's probably because the player can't handle pressure. If your playing scared of your coach, your not mentally tough enough to succeed at this level. That player needs to pack his locker up and leave.

I'd hope we are on our way up; you can go much further down than dead last in conference.

I had an assistant coach tell me once that when rickey bustle was here, that the worst thing that could happen before a game was for rickey to give a speech because he would literally deflate every player in the room. bamm, 3-9. then comes along this guy who lights a fire under his players a s s e s, bamm best season in program history. Who's job is it to get the fire lit?

Probably because Bustle had some soft players. Robe is a great pre game speaker. He used to at least fire me up and I had a pretty good career. But I also played with warriors.

Soft? Soft? have you listened to robe's post game the past 5 years? He is always saying we are too soft but who brought them here? Its always something with robe, we are too young, too soft, but we always seem to pitch well enough. by the way the same soft players in football that went 3-9, went 9-4 . get your haead out of robe's a s s . You are obviously biased. he is the one who has recruited choir boys for almost 10 years now. at the end of the day evrything that happens in a program, the head coach is responsible for. thats what he gets paid for, he has control over it all, the players, the attitude, everything. personally i think robe's biggest problem is he wants to control too much. He should let his hitting coaches worry about hitting, when it comes to hitting he should keep his mouth shut. we both know that will never happen.
