More than 60 people in the Vermilion Parish community of Indian Bayou showed up for a public forum about the new Multi-Chem facility planned in the area.

"My concerns are health issues, safety issues, I have a grandson whose at my house all the time," said Rhonda Foreman, who lives near the proposed site off highway 92.

Multi-Chem and Halliburton did have a representative on hand for the meeting. While Cade Bourque did not answer questions raised by residents, he did tell the crowd he'd take their concerns back to the company and get back to them at a later date.

"I'm not sure if it's going to have an effect on the project, but it'll definitely open up the communications so we can provide people everything they need to feel comfortable," said Bourque.

As for the outcry, those against the project plan to take their concerns back before the Vermilion Parish Police Jury at their committee meeting Wednesday night.
