The difference between those games is this...

THe aTm game was a small school with a great QB beating a big time program on a downward slope....

The UH game was an up and coming school beating a team that is considered by many to be a mid-major on the rise....

To me the UH win is bigger because we didnt catch a giant napping... we beat another small program, very similar to ours, except that they are a few years ahead in the building process (though, admittedly, the big difference is that they have been a nationally successful program before, while UL has not)...

The reason for the decade of misery is now gone and replaced with the two men that will be the reason that this victory will be the turning point not only in the program but turning point in UL athletics as a whole.

The future will set its own standards, so as far as I am concerned the issue is between the aTm and Houston wins. Still I think it will take the future to look at the wins fairly.

Based on how good Houston is or is supposed to be right now, and the manner in which UL won, I think the Houston win has the edge. However “greatest” will ultimately be decided by how good both teams do in the future.

If Houston falls off the charts no one will remember how good of a team they were or were becoming. The better Houston does in the future the better this win becomes.

I have seen it before, Texas Aggies were very good but fell off the charts that year and now only we Ragin' Cajun fans call it a great win and we only do it based on the Aggies great tradition. I agree with the earlier post that said Houston has no great tradition so they have to keep doing well for this to stay the greatest win.

The other side of the coin is the Cajuns need to keep winning, if we had won through the 90’s the Aggie win would be a distant memory. If we were to lose now we will remember the Houston win. I want to win a lot from here on out so the Houston win becomes a blur.

This was the passing of a great test, time will tell if it was the greatest.

also i feel the aggies more or less self destructed with all the turnovers. Houston did'nt really self destruct we played hard settled down and came back to beat them. the a&m game we did win but the aggies helped us a little bit. We outplayed houston for the last 44 minutes of the game. So in my mind if we run the table with conference, this road win will be bigger for the program.i also believe we will have a rematch with houston in the New Orleans Bowl.

I don't know if that stat is recoverable, but a game with more 4th down tries does not exist in my memory banks

Here is a LINK to an article that says you should almost NEVER punt.

Sorry for the loss, my mom and extended family are Nebraskan so . . . . :o

I will say this, since you started posting I have rooted for ISU except when playing Nebraska, still (until Saturday) haven't you had a nice little run on them at home?

ps thanks for the congrats, now go beat Oklahoma

Iowa State has won the last two at home against Nebraska and lost to them in overtime at Lincoln last year. It could end up being a long season for the Clones as they play Oklahoma next week in Norman.

Disagree, I really don't see us playing Houston in the New Orleans bowl. I say that because Houston will not be in the New Orleans bowl. They will make a different bowl. And who knows... maybe we will too!

Default Offensive Player of the Week

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Jerry Babb (Louisiana-Lafayette, Sr., QB)

Babb led the Cajuns to an incredible comeback at Houston. Trailing 21-0 in the second quarter, Babb got Louisiana-Lafayette on the board with a 14-yard touchdown run (he had 12 rushes for 73 yards). Babb came out in the second half and led ULL to a score on every offensive possession. ULL dominated the second half, outgaining UH 249-113 and outscoring the Cougars 21-7. Babb directed scoring drives of 14-plays, 62 yards, 9-plays, 47 yards, 7-plays 54 yards and the game-winning TD drive with 62 seconds remaining on an 18-play, 85-yard drive. He personally converted 6-of-9 third downs in the second half either rushing or passing (including 4-of-4 in the fourth quarter). With 62 ticks left, Babb hit his tight end with the go-ahead score and then upped the Cajuns margin with a two-point conversion pass. For the third week in a row, Babb picked up offensive player of the week honors and in doing so, the Lafayette native becomes the first player to be selected football player of the week three consecutive weeks (in any category).

Babb is really getting it done. He is making things happen with his arm and running all while making excellent decisions. I am glad to see that he is getting all this attention. He deserves it.

According to the radio broadcast, there was a scout from the CFL at the game to watch Jerry (and, of course, anyone else who caught his eye). But the reporter (forgot the name) said he spoke with the scout who specifically mentioned Babb.
