  1. UL Football New goal posts make practice at least visually pleasing

      Sometimes it’s the small things.

UL had to move some of its football practice fields around prior to the start of the 2006 season, to accommodate the under-construction indoor practice facility.

This week, one of those refurbished fields has a new set of goal posts, two of the modern-style single-post goals that bend up to a crossbar and extended uprights.

The posts were erected Friday and were used for the first time at a full-scale practice Tuesday afternoon.

I see 6 on the probable list.

Does anyone not interpret probable to mean "will play"

  3. UL Football UL will always be Houston's Daddy

UL’s football program is already well into its second century, a milestone that for the University of Houston is still many years away.

But the two teams do share one common historical point, with the Cajuns (then known as the Bulldogs) providing the opposition for the first-ever varsity game played by the Cougars.

That contest came on Sept. 21, 1946, at Public School Stadium in Houston, and the team known as Southwestern Louisiana Institute went on the road and took a 13-7 victory. The announced crowd was 11,000 for UH’s first-ever game, an attendance that UH wouldn’t top for three more years.

I always interpret probable as "will suck it up and play".

  5. UL 1984, 1999 . . . . Who's going to Houston?

Alright, so I'm making the 70 mile trip south down I-45 to see my beloved Ragin Cajuns!! Who else will be there? It's going to be great, my one friend that I thought was coming from Lafayette won't be there. I will be at the Alumni tailgating! I'm looking forward to a great game!! Hope to see all you fellow Ragin Pagers there.

  6. UL Football   Kolb latest top QB to face Ragin' Cajuns

Houston quarterback Kevin Kolb brings some gaudy numbers into the Cougars' 6 p.m. Saturday game with the University of Louisiana, but he's not the first record-setting quarterback the Ragin' Cajuns have faced in recent history.

The Cajuns have confronted more than a handful of quarterbacks who claimed spots in the NCAA record book and/or went on to NFL careers. Two have won Heisman Trophies - Roger Staubach and Danny Wuerffel.

Wuerffel began his Heisman season in 1996 by leading Florida to a 55-21 win over the Cajuns on Aug. 31 in Gainesville. That was also Jake Delhomme's senior season, and Delhomme led UL to a 29-22 upset of Texas A&M two weeks later in the Cajuns' second game.

Wuerffel finished his career as the NCAA's all-time leader in passing efficiency and still ranks second on that list.

  7. UL Football Opponent: Uh loses to Louisiana

      Next up... U La La!

The 4-1 Cougars begin their quest to run the table with Saturday's game against the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette. I don't know much about these guys, but they have one of the coolest logos in NCAA football. That's got to count for something (Hey, somebody please front me one of these).

The team? I don't know much because the Cajuns aren't exactly Ragin' when it comes to updating their Web site, which is two weeks behind (Next up, North Carolina A&T on Sept. 23. Get your tickets now!).

But Art Briles has seen them on tape, and he offered this:

  8. UL Football Re: Opponent: Next up U LA La

The writer uses term to describe the school that in my view is reserved for touchdowns, victories and in your face rejoicing of big plays or events.

. . . perhaps he can eat his words when UL wins the game.

  9. Default Five injured Cajuns not playing

Five players who have seen action in UL's last two wins are out for Saturday's game with injuries. That list includes senior running back Josh Harrison, who had knee surgery Wednesday for a torn ACL and is out for the season.

Center Chris Fisher (sprained knee) and linebacker Mark Risher (high ankle sprain) will miss Saturday's game but figure to be ready for the Wednesday, Oct. 18, next outing and Sun Belt opener at Florida Atlantic.

Also sidelined are two other players who missed last Saturday's E. Michigan game, safety Derik Keyes (leg) and cornerback Jemarcus Smith (toe).

Listed as questionable on the official injury report is cornerback Torres Kingsby (shoulder & knee), who saw limited action last Saturday. Listed as probable are cornerback Michael Adams (knee), linebacker Brent Burkhalter (hamstring), defensive lineman Hall Davis (shoulder), wide receivers Corey Frederick (ankle) and Derrick Smith (ankle) and center Junior Ramos (knee).

BETTER WEATHER: Saturday's forecast calls for a high of 88 degrees with gametime temperatures near 80 and a 20 percent chance of rain.

The link isn't working Turbine, I would like to have read the rest of the article. Anyway I guess it doesn't matter though... I'll be there and will see what comes...
