This is not a must win for us in the sense that we can still win the conference and play in the NO bowl if we lose, but it is a must win on many other levels.

    GEAUX CAJUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think this is a MUST WIN. I think with the way houston is playing this year, it's a MUST KEEP IT CLOSE game. We can't go and get beat by 30+. If in fact we do lose, it needs to be by less than 7.

    UL Football Game on TV?

Is the game on TV this weekend? I need to know if I need to buy that 5lb. can of cheese for nachos. That whole can of cheese is about 150 dollars worth of nachos at our home games.

Man...those Nachos are special 7 dollar, extreme-low carb, lite, heart-healthy, low calorie, low fat, anti-oxidant vitamin fortified nachos. Do not disrespect the nachos... but back to the question, is the game to be broadcast on any station?

Maybe Legends might have it? I'm about to check the Gameplan tv guide. I'll post back to say if it's on there or not.

  10. UL Football Cougars a bigger test than Ragin' Cajuns may have thought

Saturday’s contest isn’t a Sun Belt Conference game, but it might well be the toughest task the rest of the season for the Ragin’ Cajuns. It might also provide a preview of post-season play, if UL is fortunate enough to win the league title and claim its first-ever Division I bowl berth in the New Orleans Bowl.

The Cajuns head for Robertson Stadium Saturday to take on the vastly-improved Houston Cougars at 6 p.m., and both are coming off impressive performances.

UL bolted to a 33-0 lead and rolled past Eastern Michigan last Saturday, but Houston may have been even better in a loss. The Cougars led Miami (Fla.) 13-7 and appeared to be going in for another score in the third quarter before fumbling inside the Hurricane 10, and the hosts eventually survived in a 14-13 decision.

  11. UL Football Ragin' Cajuns ready for dirty fight with Cougars

UL's Morgan key to improvement from 21-14 mudslide loss in 2003

Lamar Morgan remembers the last time his UL team took on Houston's Cougars.

He recalls the rain that turned Cajun Field into a slippery mudhole. He remembers his squad standing 0-2 and needing a win, after a narrow opening loss at South Carolina and a step back against La. Tech the following week.

Mostly, though, he remembers Cougar QB Kevin Kolb.

"It was his freshman year and my freshman year," said UL's starting free safety of the two teams' 2003 meeting. "He threw some good balls then even with the weather, and he's had three more years to get better."

On a night when heavy downpours and lightning forced a 36-minute delay and on which both teams' quarterbacks combined to hit 13-of-40 passes, Kolb's 62-yard third-quarter touchdown pass was the difference in the Cougars' 21-14 win.

  12. UL Football UL's Connor Morel simulates Houston's Kolb

Connor Morel is drawing a lot of attention from his UL football teammates this week.

The junior quarterback from Destrehan, a transfer from Northwestern State, is operating the offensive scout team this week. That unit is simulating the formations, looks and schemes the Cajuns expect to see Saturday when they meet Houston's high-octane Cougars.

This week, Morel is a Heisman Trophy candidate - at least in simulation.

Morel is wearing jersey number four in practice, matching that of Houston standout Kevin Kolb, and he and his scout team mates are charged with giving an accurate look to the Cajun defense.

"Those guys on defense have to be really focused this week," said Cajun coach Rickey Bustle. "Houston shows all that movement, shifts and motions, and you've got to be ready for all of it."
