"We should have put our foot on their throat and not let them breathe, but we didn’t,” he said. “Their points, with the exception of that last drive, were from mistakes on our part."

Yeah, and the 21 the Cajuns gave up early were because of mistakes on their part. Silly coach-speak. You lost because you're high flying offense spent too much time on the bench, and your defense spent too much time on the field. Partly because the Cajuns managed the clock, and partly because Houston has two or three play scoring drives. It seems to me that these schemes either result in blowout wins or heartbreaking losses, and rarely win championships.

I was there in 1992... when we lost 63-7... and the game was not really that close...

    This was WAAAAY better.

Finally someone else that agrees with me. A road win against a good team. An amazing comeback. A final drive where they knew what we wanted to do and still couldn't stop it. Definitely a game to remember, but still not the greatest game. I may change my mind if it proves to be a turning point, but I still think the aTm win was bigger.

The aTm win was over a team that we would NEVER beat. A real goliath. I've always thought we could beat Houston, just as we have beaten Tulane a number of times. Frankly, we beat them twice previously, though not recently. We came within a TD in 2003 and in 1996. In fact, we had the lead in 1996 before they ran Antowain Smith down our throats for about 8 straight plays to take the win on the last drive of the game.

Outside of the bias of this message board there is more evidence. As far as I noticed, this win has gotten very little national press compared to the aTm win. This win did not have near the shock value that the aTm win did.

Outstanding broadcast of the Houston game. You made it special. Next best thing to being there. Well, technically listening to you and watching on gameplan would have been the next best thing. CSTV, which has a deal with CUSA, carried the Sam Houston game. Their loss. The lighting in that stadium was so bad, you could barely see what was going on. They would have been better off switching to night vision, except for the part where both teams are green.

Nuthin' thus far touches that win over Tex A&M but this one compares to the win at So Miss 24-21 in '89 and the 51-34 win at Tulame in '88.

UL Football Re: Jay and Steve

Jay's excitment was evident and matched the game, Steve was more low keyed, nothing like the day after the Astros, Mavericks or Saints win big games.

No, ESPN will join us in Boca Raton and talk about how Smellslikeburger is going to be the FAU saviour. Seriously, is the resume getting better over the years, or worse? Maybe we will give them a new storyline.

    UL Football Congrats Cajuns!!!!

Amid the torment that I was feeling after the ISU/Nebraska game the only solace I was able to find was the Cajuns beating the Cougars! Congrats! Hopefully this team will be able to carry this momentum into conference play and leave no doubt who the best team in the Sun Belt is!

    UL Football Houston-TEXAS A&M Difference

I was not at the Taxes A&M 96" game but was at this weekend's game.

I'm not sure, but I believe there is a difference in victories.

I think that A&M didn't play well, fumbled and threw a number of interceptions, which helped us win the game. A&M had more yards, 1st downs etc.

However, with the Houston win, we outmanned them in total yars, 1st downs, etc.

    This was a complete victory.

Not that the A&M game wasn't a big win, just this seems like a more mature victory.

    I have to respectfully disagree.

From a national "shock value" standpoint, the Texas a&m game was amazing, but from a "here and now" standpoint, and the potential that this win brings with it, the Houston game is the most important, if not greatest win. Everyone is seeming to forget the decade of missery after the Tex. a&m win. Obviously, if we fall on our face the rest of this season, then the Houston game means nothing, but if we roll from here on out, the Houston game will always be remembered as the turning point in the direction and future of the program.

    I was at both...

The Cajuns were a much bigger underdog against A&M [similar to the line this season] and there were 8 turnovers... 3 returned for touchdowns.

But the Cajuns were never down in that one... it was in doubt though...

The Houston game... had the early potential to be the biggest blowout of the year... instead the Cajuns simply imposed their will on the Cougars.

Houston could have won that game, had they stopped the Cajuns... and maybe sustained a drive or two to give those defensive players a rest... they looked like they were dying on that last drive.

That was the most fun I have had at a football game ever. My wife was there and my sisters' husband [Both State fans] and they were on their feet cheering for the Cajuns at the end... they usually watch the clock because they are ready to go at halftime...

    That was a great win!
