Personally, I really don't care what our opponents think about this situation. I'm sure they will be armed with "Thug" signs and "Doper" signs, etc, and I would anticipate that MS and the team should be ready for this. If it does turn out negatively; then it will be another strike against our basketball program. However on the positive side, I'm all for giving people another chance so long as they are willing to put in the positive work to EARN their way back. Nobody is "giving" MS this chance. It appears as thought he is trying to earn this chance. If the coach and the team see enough for him to have this opportunity, then its certainly good enough for me. And if it does end positively with MS being a good/model student athlete, then more power to him for having turned his life around!

Interesting note. In the two years that Southall was here, what postseason tourney did the Cajuns play in? In the two years Southall has been gone, what postseason tourney did the Cajuns play in? All you people who think this is going to help us win more are kidding yourselves.

Very well said-i guess me and you are the only ones that get it.

Just heard the Southall is in like flynn according to my source. Will be signing his contract with Robert shortly and he will have to walk a fine line if he wants to be aprt of the team.

You supported UL basketball before during and after Southall's first stint. Thus, you and I have no right to bring up his prior UL stigma. You might have a point on the human interest angle, and since it wasn't much of a human interest story before, the rest of the world probably won't bat an eye now, I mean it's not like he is coming here from Kentucky anymore. If they didn't care then they won't care now.

At least not till he makes a good name for himself. If he can pull off the amazing comeback from nowhere, I still think this has all the makings of an incredible human interest success story. If he comes up short, then you are right, no one will care.

MS committed a felonious action before he came to UL; he did drugs before he came to UL. His actions at UL are not what robbed him of a year of his life, his actions at UL were the heavier than a feather trigger that revoked his free status. His year in jail was because of the seriousness of his actions before his time at UL. His relapse at UL did not send him to jail of its own accord, those actions simply revoked his passport.

When he paid his debt and was allowed to reenrolled in school that passport was renewed.

The only thing that MS should be judged on is the "right now” his current life style is the pivot point on which judgment should hinge. Currently he passes as a drug free, straight "A" student.

    Finally, someone gets it...

I really don't see how anyone can see this in any other light, regarding this matter, other than how you just stated it! Thanks SHOF!

So two maybe three people agree. Ya'll have a right to your opinion but you don't get to decide how this ship is run. Coach does. So quit your crying. Its his butt that is on the line everyday not yours. I support the Cajuns before, during and will after Southall. It's about the program and the kids, not about one person. We will do fine without him and I believe Southall must have seen this when we went dancing without him. If he wants to be a part of this team he must earn it and Coach Lee will decide if he has done enough. This is not desperation. We had back to back championships and have reloaded. Is that desperation? What has WKU done since that time? Not much besides bad mouthing a former player who was said to have no talent yet he greatly contributed at another school in Kentucky.

More than 2 or 3. Other fans and students I have talked to who don't post here agree that MS should not be allowed to come back and play. He go to school and earn his degree, I just do not think he should represent the university as a member of the basketball program.

If this is about the program, then why does every time Southall's name come up, it becomes the longest thread on any UL message board (besides the Predict-the-yardage threads).

Notice we never won a SBC tourney with Southall and we've won 2 in a row without him. And wasn't he released from his scholarship before he even got to KY because of his drug arrest? Yep.

    WOW!

129 posts of "venting". Get it all out people!

The truth is: anything said on this board is WORTHLESS!

    The Facts....

***Michael Southall has one year of eligibility left

***Michael Southall is in school and making good grades

***Coach Lee has set up criteria for Michael to follow in able to play

***If Michael follows it "he plays"

***If Michael does not follow Coach Lee's criteria "he does not play"

***If Michael plays, no one in the Sun Belt can match up with him underneath and other school will be upset about that and resort to calling him ugly names which he will have to shoulder

***If Michael plays up to his God given potential, he will be in the NBA in 2006

What else is there to say??
