Michael Southall all the potential in the world
I am really going to miss Michael Southall playing basketball this year. To me he was worth the price of admission.
I agree. He blew it big time though. He not only let his team and his coach down, he let us all down. I just hope he will wake up one day and get his priorities straight.
I just heard the funniest call to Jay's show. UL needs a kinesiology department to help keep these kids eligable.
He also let himself down, he will have to live the life of a common man now, with common wealth of $25,000/yr or so, instead of MILLIONS!!!!!!
Mike I feel sorry for you my friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

did he offically not make it?
The only ones to blame are Jessie Evans and his staff. Part of their jobs as coaches is to stay up with what these kids are doing on and OFF the court.
Evans needs to be repremanded for letting the fans down on this one.
This guy wouldn't even go to class without a coach personally escorting him. His attitude is the worse I have ever seen. NO matter what his talent is he would be sure to let us all down during the game. Jessie could do only so much. Because of his talent we had to give it a try. The worse thing about his attitude is that the other players get infected. This forces Jessie to develop a double standard, one for Michael and one for everyone else. That doesn't work and this years eligibility problems prove that the infection is spreading. Jessie (in my opinion) has learned a lesson and is trying to recruit better students. A team can only tolerate one or maybe two academic projects---not five starters.

Sorry Kahouna, but Michael Southall has to take responsibility for his own actions. I don't think Jessie did enough to try to keep this kid in school, though. At the very least, he should've warned him after last Fall that he would not allow him to remain on the team if he didn't keep his grades up over the Summer and this Fall. If he's officially gone, then fine, let's move on without him and concentrate on the rest of the season!!Originally posted by CajunKahouna

Its time to let Southall go for good. Cant help someone who doesnt want to help himself? He only let himself down.
Time to move on!
Cajuns still holds out hope for transfer Dwayne Mitchell.
LOUISIANA La. — The beginning of the week for the UL men’s basketball team got off to a good start.
They received news that senior forward Chris Williams and junior forward Cedric Williams had regained their eligibility.
But on Thursday, the Ragin’ Cajuns suffered a major blow when it was revealed that juniors center Michael Southall and guard Orien Greene were academically ineligible for the rest of the season.
Efforts to reach head coach Jessie Evans for comment on the development were unsuccessful.
The 6-10 242-pound Southall, was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference team for both the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons, along with being named to the 2002 Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament Team, while being named the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year for the 2001-2002 season.
