Parking Garage update
Is that the parking garage we've been talking about since I was a student in the 80s???Originally Posted by CDeb
I think the band should get priority parking spots in there. They took away our pratice field!! Now we have to cross, and pratice at McNapsy field. Wich, because of the construction there, isn't even a whole football field. Thanks to the physical plant, when our band director told them that we would need power to the field in July, we didn't get it until about 3 weeks ago. We've been abused this season. haha.
Maybe you wouldn't be so abused if you learned more routines for games...Originally Posted by Cajunbander
kidding of course.
You guys rock when in the stands, I especially liked the family guy theme song at the end of the last game...and speaking for many down in the front row, we would love some sort of percussion during kick offs...ie drum rollOriginally Posted by Cajunbander
Percussion always gets people going...![]()
I stayed at the Hilton for the EMU game. We had to do a double crossing at the crosswalk. Not a big deal for a handful of people, but I never felt safe. People in cars are looking at tailgaters and buildings and everything but pedestrians. I almost got waxed after the game by a guy that thinks right on red means you can blow through there without stopping. I would like to see a tunnel from from the Hilton to the Dome. That gives you a connection to the Dome Blvd tunnel.Originally Posted by Kal
Thanks! We like Family Guy too! I dunno about the percussion thing. There's all kinds of rules for when we can and can't play.Originally Posted by Tripple Threat
By next fall, UL's first parking garage should be complete.
However, the new garage is expected to relieve little of UL's parking problems, said UL President Ray Authement.
"We're building one, and I'm predicting as soon as that one's complete, we'll have to look at a second one," he said.
In an interview with The Daily Advertiser, Authement named parking and traffic as the biggest issues facing the university this year.
Authement said he thinks the university may need at least two more parking garages - one at Cajun Field and another on the main campus.
The university's first parking garage was funded in part by student parking and transit fees.
Authement said he does not plan to ask students to vote on another fee for new garages.
Rather, Authement said he would like to move the money generated from the fees over to the other projects, once the first garage is paid off.

The first concrete placement for a portion of the fist level ramp was completed today. The first level is always the hardest because of the variable distance to the ground. Once they get to a constant distance between levels it should go pretty quick. I think they should be able to make it by next fall.
LAFAYETTE — A 280-foot crane is but one sign of progress on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus this semester.
The crane, working on a parking garage at West Taft Street and East St. Mary Boulevard, lets students know that relief may soon come for the university’s persistent parking problems.
“The parking garage is in fabulous shape, really,” Physical Plant Director Bill Crist said.
He said the four-story garage, which will hold about 450 cars, is about 75 percent complete, and construction is ahead of schedule.
He said he hopes it will be ready for use by fall.
New construction on the ULL campus is not limited to low-tech parking garages. The rest of the story
