I was keeping it witty. Jocularity often cures the pain that ails ya.

Nothing would make me happier for our team than to pack the stands. I wish the parking lot crowd would go into the stadium and support the team. But, I also wish others who don't even venture out of their homes on Saturday in Lafayette would come to Cajun Field. I drive from Baton Rouge every weekend... but that is my choice. I have never gone and tailgated, without going to the game.

I just don't believe in shunning tailgaters that don't make it into the game. Someday, they may. I can almost guarantee one thing... demanding that they go in will almost assure us that they never will.

LOUISIANA La. - Each week Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns football coaching staff honors its outstanding performers from the previous week’s game by designating them as Players of the Week. This week’s Offensive Player of the Game for this past week was sophomore wide receiver Jason Chery. Chery caught a career-best five passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns. The performance marked the first multi-reception game of his career and the first touchdowns of his career. The Defensive Player of the Game award was given to the entire UL secondary. The unit limited Eastern Michigan to only 171 yards passing. “We couldn’t come up with just one defensive player of the game, so we gave it to our secondary,” said head coach Rickey Bustle. “There were a number of passes caught for three yards or less.” The Special Forces Players of the Game was Drew Edmiston. Edmiston tallied nine points in the Cajuns victory over Eastern Michigan with a pair of field goals and three extra points. He connected on a 44-yard attempt and a 40-yard attempt, making the sophomore kicker a perfect 3-for-3 on the season from 40 yards or further. The Offensive Scout Team Player of the Week was Ian Burks. The Defensive Scout Team Player of the Week was Geoffrey McCullough. I want the people in the game just as much as anyone else. but you can't make people go home b/c they don't go to the game. A few years ago our tent was about 50-50. the 50 % of us that always went to the games convinced the other 50 to go to the game but not until we started winning. During the balswin era i remember being 5-10 of us out of 150 people that would walk to the game. Everyone who this really bothers should walk around about 20 minutes before the game and make sure people go. Maybe if people would walk around selling tickets people would go.

Again, if we can't get them to buy a ticket, make them pay through the nose for what they are taking from us....their tailgating spot.

That big wide receiver is Eric Deslauriers, whom I would enjoy having on our team. Thankfully, we put a lot of pressure on the QB and their passing game was in disarray. Had it not, I believe he would have made life miserable for us.

He is a Canadian, and spent some time after the game chatting with our Canadian, Jesse Newman.

Yea I knew he was canadian I kept trying to ask him why he didn't choose hockey but he would never answer lol

Man speaking of the red zone, they moved the defensive benches this week! WE GAVE THEM HELL last week and I noticed there was a comment about it in the Advertiser saying the players thought we were hostile.

At one point the coach was so frustrated he punched right through his dry erase board!!!! It was great!!!

haha, I laughed when I saw the benches had been moved. I don't think it was an accident...

Cajun coaches couldn't come up with an individual award winner, so UL named its entire secondary as the team's Defensive Player of the Week for its performance against Eastern Michigan. That unit allowed the visiting Eagles to complete 23-of-25 passes, but more importantly they limited EMU receivers to very few yards after those receptions. "We were where we needed to be in the coverage," said defensive coordinator Brent Pry. "We had good coverage downfield and forced the quarterback to throw underneath, and our underneath players were able to make nice hits." Eastern was 2-of-12 on third downs, and five of those 10 third-down failures came on completed passes were receivers were stopped short of first-down yardage. "They had a lot of three-yard passes, and that's what we wanted," said UL coach Rickey Bustle. "We always had somebody right in their face and we made all the tackles." If the folks are about the cajuns enough to buy a tailgating spot, then they are most likely going to the game. It is their visitor's and guests who are staying out, those people who are invited by the TG spot owners.

Fine, then raise the requirement to more than two season tickets in order to rent a spot. It encourages them to invite guests that are going to buy tickets.
