Thread: Fenroy, UL focus on Eastern Michigan

  1. Ragin' Cajuns Mike Strikes (Cajun Notebook)

      MIKE'S EVERYWHERE
Michael Desormeaux has become less a backup quarterback and more a multiple threat for the Cajuns, and his versatility was displayed virtually from kickoff to the final horn Saturday.

Desormeaux lined up in a slot position early in the first half, motioned to the backfield and took an option pitch from Babb for a 10-yard gain on his first-ever non-quarterback rush.

He made a bigger impact, though, on defense and special teams. The Catholic-New Iberia product began working as the nickel back in UL's dime defense on Wednesday and was in that role several times.

As I arrived late for a fan, it was still in the 1st quarter UL was up 7-0 and the tailgating crowd was large but shrinking.

The crowd inside was far larger than last weeks 15,041 and yes I know the official number less than 16,000 but it looked more like 19,000 to me.

I have pictures in the 4th where it looked more like 8,000

??????????????? As an avid tailgater (AND regular game attendee), we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

I don't know which gate # it is but the one closest to congress on the home side was not scanning tickets or student ID's when me and my friends walked up.

You're right Turbine. It looked like every portion of the stadium had considerably more people. If I had to guess, maybe 2000 to 3000 more fans in last night's game.

Did you see anyone with a clicker?

I wonder if it has been drummed into the workers how important attendance is, or since we set a record for season ticket sales if this aspect hasn't been put on the back burner.

Besides, half of the tailgating population would vanish if all they allowed were BBQ's and cookoffs.
    What?
When the game starts, tailgaters need to get their butts in the seats. If they are such boozers that they can't lose their buzz, they need to go to a bar and leave the tailgating spots open for fans that will actually attend the game . I think it's pathetic that some would consider drinking such a high priority. Do they get drunk before their kid's dance recital, too?

They forgot to mention that EMU didn't do squat until the 2nd and 3rd string defense was on the field. 28 yards of offense at halftime is dominance.

The use of Desourmeaux in the slot and tailback position is setting up a nasty trick play. Mark it down.

No doubt tailgating is fun and normally who would want to stop. . . .

I was talking to CajunCharlie after the game and as we mused . . . it seems that that 4 hours of tailgating followed by 3 hours of football followed by 2 more hours of tailgating would give you a lot more to talk about than watching the grass grow for 7 hours.

At the very least by going into the game you give your memory a better anchor to remember the day by.

ps let me tell you the ones who did both had a whole lot to talk about during session 2 of the UL vs EMU tailgating experience.

At the post game press conference Bustle joked that with the running game working so well, throwing a pass downfield was our trick play
