Fenroy, UL focus on Eastern Michigan

The last two weeks have produced the kind of disappointing close calls that have summed up Eastern Michigan University's recent football history. A play here or there, and the results may have been different. Eastern hits the road hoping to break its four-game losing streak against University of Louisiana, which has lost two of its three games, and which lost to the Eagles in the only other meeting between the two schools. When EMU has the ball How well the Eagles move the ball today will depend on who's running the offense. Neither Andy Schmitt nor Tyler Jones are 100 percent, and Dontayo Gage's collegiate playing experience consists of one offensive series in overtime against Central Michigan. After a solid showing last week, Dwayne Harrison - who is averaging 4.9 yards per carry - has the chance to solidify himself as a dependable tailback. Many of the listed injuries originated prior to the first game. Regardless, I was responding to a poop-stiring comment. I just get tired of hearing year after year some moron making some comment about a "big school" and some injury connection. My worst injury came in playing flag football, coming down on my ankle at a bad angle. Injuries are not caused by specific opposition. You play contact sports... injuries happen... period.

I feel for these guys and their early season injuries. It is hell to keep fighting injuries and keep yourself physically and mentally going throughout the season. I admire those who can do it, and always hopeful that we have the right sports medicine folks making the right decisions.

I agree one game doesn't mean much one way or the other but some programs are playing upwards of 3 and 4 to open their seasons and that makes a big difference. I noticed in a print article on the Troy - UAB game that UAB is reporting being really banged up at this point in the season. I sure hope their series of "money games" didn't put the rest of their season in jeopardy.
