Hahaha.. Eric sure got an earfull from us.

I talked to one of the coaches before the game and he told me he expects us to be hard on them. He was a very cool guy and even after the game I said... what happened out there coach? He just smiled and nodded. He was from the south, so he knew what's up.

The EMU players didn't know how to handle the RED ZONE!

We should just be happy that more and more people are going out to the field eventually all those students will go to the game. maybe not now but we are laying the ground wotk for later. When these students get older and have kids they will still come to the field but will start going to the games.
True, you can't make them go into the game, but you CAN make them leave the parking lot. Very simple; from 10 minutes after the scheduled start time until game's end, any person in the parking lot must leave [for security reasons]. Which direction they walk is up to them.

This would be easy to do, and security is a valid reason for asking people to leave the parking lot. [After all, we only have a limited number of security personnel, and we need them in the stadium during games.]

The ONLY reason LSU has 10,000 people outside the stadium is because they can't get tickets.

WOW.....I hope that never happens!!! The last thing we can afford to do is run off potential fans.

So, are you telling me you were in the parking lot during the game?

Better to have them in the parking lot than nowhere near Cajun Field on game day at all.

No, I was actually in the stadium an hour and a half before it started. I really don't think having people in the parking lot is hurting anything. Actually, I think it adds to the atmosphere and helps the people who go in the game have a good time. I just think the more people we have in or out of the stadium the better things will be. I just don't see any benefit of running people off. I think we have a better chance of getting them in the game by not running them off. Don't you?

Man speaking of the red zone, they moved the defensive benches this week! WE GAVE THEM HELL last week and I noticed there was a comment about it in the Advertiser saying the players thought we were hostile.

At one point the coach was so frustrated he punched right through his dry erase board!!!! It was great!!!

haha, I laughed when I saw the benches had been moved. I don't think it was an accident...

I agree...T-shirt give aways and a free car haven't done enough to motivate those still out to go in. It looks like a great place to be from off the street and to me, that's good advertising.

Beggers can't be choosers. I'm happy with the progress.

well putting officers walking around the tailgate and directing traffic 10 minutes after kickoff would not help our lack of security gaurds, it would cause more trouble than its worth. Schedule good teams and win football games and the rest will take care of itself. I just don't see why everyone is so wooried about everyone else. Be patient if we do what we are supposed to these people will go to the games. everyone wants everything about our program to be perfect and that won't happen right away after you have had ten straight losing seasons. 1 game above .500 and we think that everyone should be dying to go to these games. Not everyone has watched the last ten years like we have, so to them we are still just an above average team. p****** people off is not the way to win them over. If you make them leave when the game starts they won't come back. We would still have 15,000 and there would be nobody in the parking lot, at least when people pass by there are people everywhere which may get them out to the next game. And we still don't know for sure if the people at the gates are even counting right b/c sat looked good and full, the only thing missing was the visitor section. I find it hard to believe that northwestern brings ten thousand fans.WIN and they will come. If we would have played in the new orleans bowl last year i promise you we would have had 20k at both of those games.

Punishing those who stay in the parking lot is the silliest thing I have ever heard (OK, not actually the silliest... but close). These people are one step off of being real fans. They need incentive... not punishment. I think every creative idea to get fans to attend is great... short of force.

Alcohol, naked ladies (nice looking), loud music... oh, nevermind, I was thinking about that bar I was going to open.

We need to keep putting an attraction on the field... yes, the band, cheerleaders and dancers are nice... but we need more winning... that is what gets those bubble fans in the stadium.

I suggest this concept... trick them... they are in semiconscious states... tell them that inside the stadium, we are giving away free alcohol and boudin to everyone who has a ticket, and is wearing red... once they get in, we count their ticket, and they choose to stay or leave once reality sets in. As for pictures, let's digitally rework those pics and crop in some extra people. I just took care of one game... you're next.

This tailgating vs. "butts in the seats" problem is one that has raised the blood pressure of many UL fans. Some of the points that have been made are valid, and some are just down right ludicrous.

I happen to be one of those folks who cannot understand why someone would want to just come drink and eat and not attend the game. Hell, you can do that in your backyard with the neighbors. I am of the opinion, after 75 years on this earth and attending football games as a youngster when there was no such thing as tailgating, that tailgating is to compliment the game, not vice versa.

Having said that, I am also of the opinion that this situation is going to exist on into the future no matter what you or I say or suggest. Does it bother me? Yes, it does. Do I worry about it? No, I do not. I try to fret about those things over which I have some control. This ain't one of them. I can only contemplate how much more our athletes would prefer to have a full stadium with fans cheering them on.
